Palomino Blackwing pencils are ideal for illustrators and writers who prefer a soft, dark line. These Pearl pencils are crafted from incense cedar wood with a sleek, pearl-white finish. The unique rectangular black eraser can be extended as it wears down from use, and also pops out completely from the pencil body for replacement. Replacement erasers are available in a variety of colors.

Blackwing pencils differ in the softness of the graphite core, which can be felt while writing and drawing. These are the pencils from softest to firmest: Blackwing, Blackwing Pearl, and Blackwing 602. See all Blackwing pencils including packs and gift box sets.

I love these. The original blackwings were too soft for me, but these are exactly as hard as I want them and still as smooth as silk. I horde the erasers and move the partially used ones to the next pencil and keep the new ones hidden away until I need them. I love these.

Best wooden pencil!! I am one of the few people out there that prefer a good wooden pencil over a mechanical one, but unfortunately I am also picky. I prefer a dark lead that is neither too soft or hard and this one is just that. It writes smooth and dark, but not too dark so you don't have difficulty erasing when necessary. Also, the refillable flat eraser is a nice plus.

I never thought a wooden pencil could be a luxury item until I tried these. They are very nicely balanced and they write so dark without pressing hard. They even come out nice and dark on shiny paper (think Field Notes or airline magazine crosswords) without excessive smudging. Plus they are smooth, smooth, smooth. I would buy another package in a heartbeat, despite the price. They are worth it.

I really wanted not to like these pencils because they are expensive, but they are totally worth the money. The core is very smooth and dark, but these don't hold a point too well. This kind of point retention is to be expected with a pencil this dark. I use them for writing. Sometimes I find myself pushing down even harder on these pencils because I love how dark and smooth writing with them can be. So very, very smooth.

I call these the Cadillac of wooden pencils! They're smooth, glide over paper, and the lead is bold but doesn't smudge easily. I use one of these until it's the size of a crayon -- that's how much I value them. They're pricey but worth treating yourself!
