Palomino Blackwing pencils are ideal for illustrators and writers who prefer a soft, dark line. These Pearl pencils are crafted from incense cedar wood with a sleek, pearl-white finish. The unique rectangular black eraser can be extended as it wears down from use, and also pops out completely from the pencil body for replacement. Replacement erasers are available in a variety of colors.

Blackwing pencils differ in the softness of the graphite core, which can be felt while writing and drawing. These are the pencils from softest to firmest: Blackwing, Blackwing Pearl, and Blackwing 602. See all Blackwing pencils, including single pencils, packs, and gift box sets.

I was really excited...

I was really excited to start using this pencil -- so much so that I tore it open as soon as it arrived. I LOVE the look of it -- I have a thing for plain white stationary supplies, for some reason -- and the eraser is so unique and different compared to what I'm used to. The lead is really smooth and I can't remember writing with a pencil that flowed so effortlessly. Unfortunately, I've learned the hard way that I don't like pencils that write this smooth, haha -- oops! And I have problems with the eraser, too. I love the idea of it being big enough to last, and I love the idea of re-positioning it as it wears down, but the eraser itself is kind of... inefficient. No matter how hard you erase, you can still see whatever you wrote/draw. If you're using these pencils just for writing, like myself, it's fine, but those who use these pencils for art should definitely use a separate eraser! I'm glad JetPens is selling them by the single pencil, because I almost bought an entire box and I would have been really disappointed, given the price of them. All in all, a good pencil that I will continue to use, but the chances of me replacing it when it's all used up are slim.
