KUM, a leader in pencil sharpener development, produces this sharpener exclusively for the Palomino brand. The Palomino Blackwing name, in gold, decorates one side of the sharpener and its black box. Use this sharpener to create beautiful long points on your pencils.

This innovative sharpener has two holes (barrels). The first hole is used to sharpen the wood, and the second is used to sharpen the lead. An automatic brake prevents over-sharpening. The result is a sharp, long point. Other special design features include the hard, rust-resistant, high-carbon steel blades that are held securely in place by screws (versus rivets which may allow wobbling). The blades are razor-sharp and fitted onto cone-shaped holes designed to reduce friction, allowing you to turn and sharpen pencils with less force.

Each blade can sharpen pencils thousands of times, but may need to be replaced after fewer uses if it is frequently used for pencils of 3H or higher hardness. Two spare blades are included with this sharpener.

This is one of the best manual pencil sharpeners. One hole exposes the lead, the other sharpens it to a needle sharp point. The sharpened pencil is perfectly centered and the crown (where the paint meets the raw wood) is level all the way around the pencil. It is precise, and does not waste the pencil length.

Wow, I love this sharpener. I'm always looking for a good handheld sharpener (my electric one stopped working, and even before it did, it didn't sharpen very well) and though this was a little pricey considering the money I'm used to spending on office supplies, I am simply in love. It feels a little cheap when you first touch it, but it has a very pleasing look and shape to it, and it sharpens like a dream -- I've never seen a sharpener that works the way this one does, sharpening the wood and then the lead separately, but it's really impressive. I almost wish the reservoir was bigger, but then I imagine the sharpener would get bulky and clumsy, so it's probably better this way. Really happy with this purchase!

The two step point is by far the strongest pointed pencil I have ever used.

Interesting sharpener that does a splendid job uniquely sharpening my precious, special, wonderful Blackwing Pencils! It sharpens them leaving a sort of flat edge on the bottom (think of a hammerhead shark). Strange as it sounds, this shape gives the pencils a nice writing/drawing edge. It's very sharp, well made and easy to empty without becoming so loose that it falls apart after a while.
