This is one of the best manual pencil sharpeners. One hole exposes the lead, the other sharpens it to a needle sharp point. The sharpened pencil is perfectly centered and the crown (where the paint meets the raw wood) is level all the way around the pencil. It is precise, and does not waste the pencil length.

Wow, I love this sharpener. I'm always looking for a good handheld sharpener (my electric one stopped working, and even before it did, it didn't sharpen very well) and though this was a little pricey considering the money I'm used to spending on office supplies, I am simply in love. It feels a little cheap when you first touch it, but it has a very pleasing look and shape to it, and it sharpens like a dream -- I've never seen a sharpener that works the way this one does, sharpening the wood and then the lead separately, but it's really impressive. I almost wish the reservoir was bigger, but then I imagine the sharpener would get bulky and clumsy, so it's probably better this way. Really happy with this purchase!

Great sharpener! Makes pencils truly sharp. I like the automatic stop feature of step 1 of the sharpening process.

I didn't like at all! Some of my pencils don't fit (like the regular #2 pencils!) and the ones that do fit, it gives hem a very small point :( Dissapointed

When used with the Palomino series of pencils, this pencil sharpener is great because it allows you to shave down the wood during the first step, exposing the lead core, and then fine tuning your pencil's point during the second step. Note that larger diameter specials such as the palomino won't allow you to over sharpen, which is a good thing!

Talk about a lethal point......

Talk about a lethal point... I find this creates a point that is almost too sharp out of the box. It's so fine I tend to break the tip on touch down. I cured that with a few tiny paper shims. If you carefully slip a thin piece of paper under the business end of each blade and then tighten it back down, it ever so slightly lifts the blades on the point end. Some trial and error required.

Doing this also prevents the "spirals" on the graphite from blade One from being so prevalent while still creating the same length initial point. It also allows me to get two passes (first pass and resharpen after some use) on blade Two extending pencil life a bit. It's really a great sharpener and with a little tinkering can be even better.
