I picked this pen up in it's chrome version, and have been using it on and off
for roughly 6 months now. I was initially attracted by the IM's barrel design,
and am particularly impressed by this pen's weight, build quality and value.
Unfortunately, it's the way the IM puts the ink down that leaves my rating just
shy of 5 stars. While the black is vivid and free-flowing in true Parker fashion
(I even use Parker Quink in my Cross fountain pens), the IM's ink delivery
system is annoyingly under engineered.
Compared to other rollerball pens, the IM cartridge just doesn't cut it. Pushing
and pulling the IM around a notebook is dry and scratchy to the point of
frustration, and I can't find a Parker gel cartridge to fit this pen.
If you're not a picky note taker, this pen communicates the right combination of
humble professionalism and style, but if you're passionate about your penmanship
you may decide to check out some alternatives.
