I really like the stylish..., January 29, 2012

I really like the stylish look and writing action of this pen—so much in fact, that I bought the remaining two in fine point green from this company and two more from another dealer! The body, although plastic, does not appear or feel cheap to me. On the contrary, it seems very solid. The barrel size and comfort is better in my hand than say, the Kaweco Sport. The nib is quite smooth and writes like a charm. The pen clip actually attaches very snug to my shirt pocket so I can be confident that when I bend down or move around, it will not slip out of my pocket. The only drawback (preventing a full five stars) to me is the cap does not attach tightly to the end when the pen is in use. No matter. The pen still has a nice balance and feel even when I choose to keep the cap off when writing. A simply great pen in this price range.

This writes very nicely..., July 13, 2012
By wighta
This writes very nicely with a good ink flow, & I would give it 5 stars if only the end of the pen was round so that the cap could be posted securely---instead the end of the pen has a squarish end section which ill fits the round cross section of the inside of the cap. The other snag is that the "sturdy clip" does not open enough in reality, & so it is largely useless trim---with difficulty, I can get about 1/4" of the fabric of my shirt pocket's fabric under the clip. Aside from the problem with the cap the pen handles nicely. Watch out: the pen comes without any instructions on its pretty little box. When you unscrew the pen open you will find 2 small blue ink cartridges inside, the top one has to be flipped around so that the other end is facing into the pen and as you screw the body shut the cartridge tip will be punctured so supplying ink flow to the nib. When the 1st cartridge becomes empty, be sure to keep it as a spacer below the 2nd cartridge otherwise the 2nd cartridge will not engage with the base of the nib unit. Of course, if you are using the long ink cartridges then you will not need an empty cartridge as a spacer. The pen is pretty & it seems well constructed. It would be very good value for money if only the cap could be securely posted. The other snag with the clip being almost flush with the cap is that the there is not a lot to stop the pen rolling.

cap doesn't post against the pen body. pen seems great and I really liked the body color, but I never tried it with actual ink as I need to return it. I immed noticed out of the box, the 'open end' of the cap when posted does not actually sit flush against the surface of the barrel of the pen. when posted the cap can wobble because of this extra 'space' (note the ever so slight shadow on the pen barrel in the posted-cap photo). it bothered me enough to not proceed with trying the pen with any ink.

As far as I know this pen is pretty good. I am a rookie when it comes to fountain pens. It is true about how the cap does not fully snap on at the end. So if you have larger hands it could become bothersome. Seeing as how my hands are small I did not take issue with it.

I like the way it writes, but as someone noted with the green one: the cap is wobbly. You have to really push it against the barrel to make sure it doesn't fall off. The pink is cute, but not as bright as in the photo.

Still, a cute and affordable pen for the price.

This pen is adorable. More importantly it is very easy to grip, very comfortable and a SUPER smooth writer. I HATED my Pelikano 460 but I'm LOVING this!

I think this would be a great starter pen for anyone. It forces you into the right grip but not to the extent that Lamy Safari's do, these have a bit more leeway. I find it easy to loosen my grip and write with less pressure which is something I have a hard time doing with my Kaweco Sports.

The medium line is also a great size, not too thick but not too thin.

Overall a great pen for the money.

I found this has been a great pen for my sons to learn to write with. Learning to write with a fountain pen is challenging but this design is simple and forgiving. Pelikan has been designing pens for kids for more than 100 years. My mother learned with Pelikan and so did I. Great starter pen for young writers who want to learn.

This review is from Pelikan P460M Pelikano Fountain Pen - Medium Nib - Blue Body
this pen is easily converted to eyedropper with some E6000 glue in the vent holes at the end of the body and some silicone grease on the threads. It writes a wet medium line that is great for sketching. Truly one of the best sketching pens out there. It responded well to any ink and was never scratchy, just smooth. The translucent barrel allows for easy viewing of the ink inside.

The pen is also super sturdy. I let it bang around in my bag and it never leaked, blobbed or cracked. I enjoyed this fool proof open so much I gifted one to a friend. she also loves it.

A great pen for the budding sketch artist.

Meh, not great. Pen feels cheap/plasticky. Of course, almost all pens are plastic, but this one really feels like it. Nib fitting and barrel screw together loosely so it feels like it needs to be tightened, but feels like it would crack if you did. The clip is stylish but no room to actually put the fabric of your shirt pocket under it--feels like it would break off. Writes ok, nothing special. The fine nib is not all that fine, in my opinion--but I use a lot of Pilot/Namiki fine point fountain pens and those are VERY fine. Rather a disappointing pen for the price, though it is very attractive to look at.

This review is from Pelikan P460F Pelikano Fountain Pen - Fine Nib - Orange Body
I think that Pelikan makes the finest fountain pens available. I often use my M605 for daily use and love it to death, but for a daily writer, I was just curious to see how their humble little "school pen" compared to their flagship products.

I was amazed! I love this pen. I grew up with Scheaffer school pens, which leaked if you looked at them. This Pelikano does everything you want it to, and more. Ink cartridge, the "giant" size, fits snugly and securely, the nib is smooth and in the fine size, perfect for any writing one needs to do. The plastic is high quality and seems like it will last for many years to come. The stainless cap and springy plastic clip has been in service on mine for about four years with no problems. Aesthetically, I liked the previous model better, but now this chunky rounder, thicker (and more sturdy) design has grown on me quite a bit.

I originally bought this pen because I wanted a daily Pelikan writer without the worrying about my emotionaly state should I lose my M605. But now with my M605 virtually permanently in the drawer so that I can write with this one, if I lose it, I'll feel as though I've lost a limb.

I would recommend the F nib size as it's pretty wide and the ink flows well. I have a couple in different colors with the M nib and the line it makes is pretty thick.

I love this pen. I'd recommend it to anyone. It may seem pricey for even a daily writer, but when I consider that I've carried mine for four years so far, it's nothing. Ink is cheap too, and you can always put a converter in it for even more savings.

Very smooth writing for such a reasonably priced pen. I love that it fits the long cartridges. Probably the favorite in my fountain pen arsenal (don't tell my other pens). I want one in every nib and color.
One hint: Don't manhandle the clip, they have a tendency to break off.

As good or better than the Lamy Safari and less expensive. Excellent flow with long Pelikan cartridge ink (I used black--very black). Well-made with good fit & finish. Handles nicely with cap unposted (not placed on the end of the barrel).
