I bought one of these..., February 1, 2011
I bought one of these for each of my two left-handed children as Christmas
gifts. Both have been very well recieved by my kids, who previously coveted my
grownup fountain pens. They especially like the name labels which come with each
pen, and the bright body colors are very friendly. The pen seems nice and stout,
with a satisfying snap of the cap. The ink (I purchased a selection of colors in
the short cartridges, which they enjoy changing often) is reliably wet and ready
to go, and the nib, while not overly flexy, is not so stiff as to be scratchy,
either. What a happy thought that children can appreciate something so low-tech
as a fountain pen. My daughter insisted on getting one of these to give her best
friend for her birthday, so I know she really thinks a lot of it. I have no idea
what makes this a left-handed pen, but neither child has had any problems with
smudging, so whatever it is, it's working. I'd call this a winner for anyone new
to fountain pens: never fussy, lots of nice ink colors available in the
cartridges, and all-around friendly to use!

I bought this pen over..., October 8, 2010
I bought this pen over a year ago for my left-handed 7yo, and it's still going
strong. He finds it comfortable and easy to write with. However, it would be
nice if it didn't set down such a broad, wet line. It lends itself to smearing,
and one must write fairly large to be legible.

Okay, I purchased this..., March 21, 2009
Okay, I purchased this pen a little over a month ago mainly for aesthetic
reasons but also because I am left-handed. I thought the left-handed nib was
supposed to be easier to write with, but it was not for me. Don't know if this
was the particular way that I hold my pen or not, but the ink just would not
flow sometimes which pretty much ruins the writing experience.
Also the durability of this pen was suspect at best. The cap is made of hard
plastic and doesn't withstand much. Mine is already split on the side and it is
just over a month. Another thing that you should know is that the ink refills
are about half the size of the one that comes with the pen. I'm not an
experienced fountain user so maybe this is not so unusual, but I was a little
disappointed when I saw it. Plus the original cartridge didn't last me to
lectures worth of notes. All in all, not a very good purchase on my part, but
the wife likes it so I'll give it to her.
