I had to try these pencils...,

I had to try these pencils since according to some blogs they are the top wooden
pencil offering by Pentel completing the supreme Japanese pencil triad with the
Mitsubishi Hi-Uni and the Tombow Mono 100. While I'm glad to have had the
opportunity to add them to my collection, I am not particularly impressed by its
performance fresh out of the box. It did not sharpen well with a fairly new
sharpener (graphite point cracked even while holding the sharpener vertically to
reduce stress) and it drew just ok, but nowhere near as smooth as the Mitsubishi
Hi-Uni HB. Unless you are a bit of a wooden pencil collector, my advice would be
to skip this pencils and just go for a nice box of Mitsubishi Hi-Uni pencils
instead.
