I am an avid pen collector and user. I am very particular about the comfort, and quality of my pens. That being said, I ordered an 8 color multi-pack of these pens and I have been using them for about 2 days now. They are great right out of the package. The grip is very nice, not too big and very comfortable to hold. The ink flows well enough to put a nice line on the page but doesn't leave extra ink at the end of a letter etc. The ink dries quickly so this would be a suitable pen for lefties! The roller ball is very smooth as it lays down the vivid colors. I have tried many, many gel pens and these are by far the best I have ever used. Order some and enjoy!

My favorite gel pen of all time. Pilot must have changed the ink formulation, because as of December 2013, when I bought the latest one, it is completely waterproof.

This pen does write very smooth and leaves a crisp color, but so does my Uniball Signo. The biggest drawback with this pen is that it is NOT water resistant in the least. That means if I spill something or get caught out in the rain, my notes smear well into the next page and there goes my nice crisp color. I want a pen that I am comfortable writing checks with and signing legal documents as well as taking notes and doodling. So I'll stick with my Signo.

This pen, as cheap and simple as it is, beats out dozens of other pens that are up to 3 times as expensive. I'm serious. This pen has a functional grip that, while not squisy, is comfortable and non-slip. the clip works well for shirt pockets, etc. I like the feel of the clicking mechanism. Finally, to the writing. This pen is the smoothest pen out of all the liquid and gel pens I have, and this pen writes the darkest and most crisp. I love the writing quality. It puts my G2s and miffy and signos and vision elites all to shame. The Energel X is smooth, has never skipped on me, always creates a nice vivid black line from first touch, and creates sharp lines.
There is only one downfall, and even that is circumstantial. I have heard that this pen does not have waterproof ink, which means that if you are doing labs in a science course, the ink may smudge and ruin a page of your lab notebook, in the case that water or some other liquid spills.

Overall, considering price and writing quality, this is a great deal, and you should NOT hesitate to add both this and the blue version to your cart.
