Great eraser but a little big.

this eraser is amazing! once you use it you can't even tell you wrote on your paper! the only problem is the cardboard/paper cover that has the logo on it slides off very easy...at least mine does

GOOD big and erase very well

a little big, its pretty good at erasing and is harder than the other ain erasers. it doesnt last as long as the blue one though, and i prefer the boxy over this

I recieved this eraser today and thought I'd share my initial impressions:

After more than 30 sketches today, and a good deal of erasing for both correction and toning, I've found this to be a very usable eraser if somewhat smaller than I was expecting. On the other hand, compared to the MOMOs I usually use, it's not that small.

Dust:
I tend to work with a very light hand and while this block produces more dust than my other Pentel (round click-stick eraser), it's not any worse than my previous experience with MOMOs. That being said, I just killed off my last MOMO and thought I'd try these instead of just going with what I've always used. I'm planning on getting more with my next order so I thought I'd do some side-by-side comparisons and do my best to remember to write a review.

Erasing:
This is where this block really seems to excell. It seems that it takes half as many strokes to erase a mark compared to my MOMO but I won't know for sure until I've had a chance to get some more MOMOs and do a SxS comp.

Consistency:
This block feels a bit softer than I remember the MOMO being. In spite of that softness, it doesn't seem to wear out any more quickly. The nice part of the consistency is that it feels like it does a better job of grabbing the paper without wearing away at it... if that makes sense. It seems to slide over the paper itself without too much abrasion, but the softness makes it feel like it's getting a good hold of the graphite.

Toning:
I've only used it on graphite so far but it's done a good job. The performance is uniform without any unexpected snags so I can say that the manufacturing seems to be quality. (Now I wish I could say that for my last batch of kneeded erasers, but don't get me started.) Since this block's already black, I'm not sure if there's any loading going on but even after a lot of work which would typically load any of my previous white polymer erasers, this block is quite satisfactory.

I'll have to save performance with Prismacolor pencils and charcoals for the next time. HTH....

These erasers are extremely smooth and erase every single mark. This eraser also leaves very little eraser shavings but compared to the boxy the ain is ok. But they are still pretty good so good that someone stole one of mine.

I have used this eraser on heavy pencil lines and colored lead lines and love it. This eraser performs better that my White Vinyl on darker lines and leaves little mess that is easily swept away with a brush.

This is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have tried the long version of this kind of eraser and this is certainly fantastic.. But, the long one always cracks because of the paper on it. So when u do use the long version of this, take the paper of.... If u get the dark blue one, don't worry that will almost never crack..... I haven't tried it in this shape but I am gonna order It soon..... I would recommend this eraser to anybody......

This is an easy eraser to use. As described, there are very few shavings, even after erasing large areas. My complaint is that it doesn't fully erase pencil that is moderately or heavily drawn. However, this could be a characteristic of very soft erasers, and why Pentel offers this in different hardness.

Ain vs. Uni-Ball boxy= UNI-BALL !
I feel like the Ain is a copy of the uni-ball, even thought it's cheaper, does not last as long!

it feels like the harder version of the tombow mono eraser

Works as good as the tombow mono but it's smaller square cut make it easier to control....

I love this, I am kinda ashamed to admit now that I only wanted it in the first place to get free shipping... In my defense it did sound like the best deal for the price. Anyway this is great, it erases really well and doesn't leave eraser shavings at all.

Extremely good eraser.

The best eraser I have ever used! It erases graphite pencil completely, doesn't leave the residue and just glides on paper! I am ordering more:)

the eraser is a very good eraser for erasing. it doesnt gather dust, but it lasts a really long time. However it is a little big and feels awkward in the hand.

Very soft eraser, and best eraser of all that I ever had.

This eraser is terrible and awesome!
Good: this eraser erases very well and when you erase it, it feels very smooth:)
Bad: when you erase very dark 2B lead or higher, the eraser smudges it all around and you have to go back and erase the marks and smudges. It also leaves a lot of shavings. It is just like the eraser pink pearl but a little better. I don't recommend this very much but...... I would highly recomment the black Boxy eraser.. It is more expensive, but is is worth it. It lasts a long time and it is VERY SMOOTH when you erase something. On the other hand, this eraser feels like you are pushing across the paper that doesn't want to be pushed and causes a lot of friction.

This is easily one of my favourite erasers to use due to its stability, accuracy, and effectiveness. I will definitely be purchasing more of these when mine runs out. c:

smaller than i thought but good eraser leaves small amounts of dust

I absolutely love this eraser! Because it's soft plastic there is barely any eraser dusts! I don't have to keep cleaning my paper when erasing and strain my hands!! Thank you JetPens for having these erasers! *ordered 5 of them* They are the best! _v_bbb

This eraser erases very well, but it leaves a lot of small shavings. I still gave it five stars since I am not one of those super-picky people that cannot stand to blow pencil shavings off of my paper. The eraser itself does a wonderful job, and I cannot complain.

This eraser was good, but it was much smaller than I expected. It would help if Jetpens included the size of this eraser in the description.

i ordered this eraser today and i think its really cool my dad unexpectedly bought me the red ain eraser and the blue ain eraser how cool!!!!! i think im going to enjoy this eraser.My friend had this eraser and i used it it was clean and perfect that inspired me to buy this super cool eraser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i bought this eraser somewhere else (same price)... this eraser is really good, it feels like a mono, but in a different shape, easier to fit in my pencil pouch =)

Feel
The Pentel Hi-Polymer Ain Eraser is slightly softer than the Staedtler Mars Plastic Eraser, but definitely more solid than the Boxy Eraser. I find the Mars Plastic Eraser to be more ridged and the Pentel seemingly hit the sweet spot with me.

Use
I like this better than the Staedtler Mars Plastic Eraser. It left slightly fewer shavings behind and because it is slightly softer it had that feeling of "getting into the paper" and really erasing. The Boxy Eraser still did best concerning left behind dust/shavings. However the Boxy is very mushy and half as thick making it slightly trickier to hold/use especially with my large hands. The Pentel and Mars are nearly identical, with the Pentel being slightly taller and a smidge wider.

Value
Solid value over the Boxy as the Pentel is twice as thick and a 1/4 taller. The Mars however can be had for around a $1 so overall value goes to the Mars. All 3 are good erasers period. It is there unique characteristics that make them desirable.
- Staedtler Mars Plastic Eraser for most rigid body material and best value concerning price.
- Pentel Hi-Polymer Ain Eraser for a slightly softer body than the Mars and slightly better performance concerning leftover eraser shavings.
- Boxy of course for softest body, least amount of shavings and those that are left are usually clumped up, and of course its solid black color.
