I very much like the darkness of this lead. I am not experienced buying all the
different levels of hardness and softness for mechanical lead, although I am
pleased with this. I tend to write with a very light touch and a darker lead
helps my work show up properly. B is surely dark enough for your average hand,
although for one who writes with little or no pressure behind your pencil, I
would recommend for you a darker grade. I have no complaint about this product
whatsoever, when I draw with slightly more pressure it shows up perfectly. The
container itself is even a dispenser, which is just precious.

I've used several types of lead from Pentel super polymer to premium and then
uni-ball and etc other companies. I stumbled across the Ain B as a gift from a
friend and I was sold. I use a graph gear 1000 (A Pentel drafting pencil), and
with this lead I was able to get a smoother flow of writing in English,
Japanese, and Korean. I could make finer details, but most importantly of all it
rarely, if ever, broke under any sort of pressure. Make note of this when you
have to write a 6 page Philosophy test in 50 min!!

Pentel Hi-Polymer Ain Pencil Lead - 0.5 mm - 2B
Best lead I've ever used, almost no breakage, and super smooth dark lines that
erases very clean, unless I write with extreme pressure.. and even then the lead
does not break!
everyone that I give a piece to when they ask, said its an extremely noticeable
difference to their original lead. much smoother and darker (coming from regular
2B users)
This is what i will always get, i got the 2b for 0.7 as well and b for 0.3 since
0.3 evaporates if its any softer.
don't think about it, its the best out there!

Wonderful lead. Provides an ideal darkness without exerting extra pressure
while writing, can write lightly when needed, and it simply does not break.
I've dropped my pencil a number of times with the lead out, and have not had it
break once.
Erases smoothly with a decent eraser. The eraser tip on my Uni Kuru Toga is
admittedly a piece of junk, but using the great Mitsubishi e-Knock eraser solves
that. This lead partnered with these two utensils makes a winning pair.
Finally, works perfectly well with Scantron. You can leave the #2 lead at home
if you want!

Pentel Hi-Polymer Ain Pencil Lead - 0.5 mm - 4B
I really like the darkness of this lead. I use it in many of my Pilot, Uni, and
Pentel technical pencils. The lead is durable for it's softness and can be used
well with any pencil. Of course, people who write heavy handed will be advancing
the lead every few words! The lead does smear quite easily, but also erases
almost completely using a white eraser. All in all a good investment.

This is, put simply, great lead. I compared it to my previously-trusted Pentel
lead, and while the difference isn't dramatic, it is noticeably harder to break.
Very good overall.

Surprisingly strong! I wish this (or an equivalent) was sold in the US. I don't
have to make sure I'm writing with the bare minimum length of lead with this.

This review is from
Pentel Hi-Polymer Ain Pencil Lead - 0.5 mm - 3B
Pros:
- After trying out various hard/soft leads, 3B is my favorite for taking notes
and writing.
- Awesome dispenser/container ^^ Best stuff out there in my opinion. Sometimes
when i\'m at a loss for lead, i go out to Staples or Office Max and get a 3 pack
of lead and take the lead out of those containers and simply refill this
container :P
Cons:
- NONE...at all. Cept that it\'s semi-expensive. ~shrug~. A 3 pack of 30 pieces
at an American retail store costs less $$, but hey, what can you do. haha. If
anything, buy this item for the dispenser and just keep refilling it with
cheaper lead. That\'s what most of my friends do. :D

So much better than other leads. It is SOOOO hard to break, and I love that,
because I press down firmly when I write. Totally recommend this.

Pentel Hi-Polymer Ain Pencil Lead - 0.5 mm - Blue
I came to conclusion that these color refill sticks along with the red ones are
the best there is (apparently Staedtler and Faber Castell 0.5 mm blue leads are
the best but I cannot find where to buy) when it comes to color pencil refills.
They break less easily as compared to color sticks from Uni and Pilot Eno (lets
not forget these are not graphites so offcourse they will break easier than
graphite sticks) but, MOST importantly the color from these sticks does not
disappear overtime as it does with Pilot eno color sticks. This maybe of
importance to artists as you may not see your color lines in a few weeks or
months (I cannot see preliminary drawing lines I did few weeks ago with color
Pilot eno light blue sticks but i see no changes in color strength with these
blue or red pentel pencill refills). Offcourse this may be not important to
some, depending on your needs.

It doesn't erase! =(
My first colored lead was the uniball set for 3.75 (the multicolored one) and
that was really nice and it erased well, so I thought, why not get some more
colored lead?
However, buying this one was a mistake, since it doesn't erase well. =(
Buy the uniball if you want to be able to erase your writing.

How much lead is in each package? I've used the Super polymer versions but never
the Ain, though I've used other Ain leads and I can attest that their stronger
than their Super cousins and come in greater quantities, which make it easier
for me to carry around. I use a graph gear 1000, personally I think the finest
pencil to use with Pentel lead and using this lead is similar to using a colored
pencil, but with far more control and vastly finer details. The lead is great
for art sketches, writing, or just plain notes!

Dark lines, smooth and soft on the paper, resistant to breakage. The case has a
small plastic bit protruding on a side that might break easily, this bit is
necessary because of the interesting and convoluted mechanism used for opening
the case, but a bit overkill.

Although it should be very soft, this lead is actually very durable, and can
write very darkly. It only smudges if you really try. I love it.
