I bought this pen from JP about 5 years ago. After a while I stopped using it because of filling the ink and getting the flow I wanted was to much trouble, so just went back to regular brushes.

One day I wanted to brush some line work, but didn't want to ink up a brush, then have to wash it out. This reminded me that my Pentel had a cap, and the brush was empty. So I dipped it in some Higgins and did the lines, and replaced the cap without the cleanup.

A few days later, I pulled off the cap to test it out... no problem. The ink flow was fine.

After this, I've been using it to do a lot of work by dipping in various inks I use. This way, I can use any ink I wish on the fly, and not worry about cleanup unless going from dark to light.

The brush handles well and I'm happy with the line work. I'm thinking about ordering the Xtra Fine now. This one can do some pretty fine lines, but the action is a bit quick for my hand.

4 stars because I really don't care for the soft squeeze handle. I find that dipping does very well for my work.

This brush pen is very big! Really, like those brushes used by thick stroke canvas painters, also, the black part is the actual ink container and made of soft plastic, so if you press it hard when using it, more ink will be drew and you'll get a splotched result. I recommend the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen, is a bit more expensive, but more appropriate to use as a "pen".
