I purchased one of these a while ago and I must say: this is the best brush pen I have used. This is vs. the following pens which I have also purchased: PENTEL XGFKP-A, KURETAKE DT140-13C, TOMBOW GCD-111, and PENTEL XFL2L (each is a jetpens product code).

Even though this pen doesn't have nearly as many glowing reviews as the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen [PENTEL XGFKP-A] has (as of 6/18/2010), it's performance is far superior.

The flow of the ink can be increased by squeezing the soft, plastic ink cartridge that makes up most of this pen's length. This allows one to make very thin, fully-saturated lines by squeezing the cartridge before drawing and allowing the brush tip to become fully wet with ink.

With a steady hand, the tip provides great line control with a wide range of thicknesses that make brush pens such a pleasure to use.

Another plus is that there is a wide range of ink cartridge colors available when the ink runs out (although as of the time of this review, jetpens only carries black).

If there is one issue with the pen, it's that it may be considered a tad too long for some (maybe an inch longer than the Pentel Pocket Brush) but if this is not a problem for you, you've just found an amazing brush pen.

I've owned this previously and am just replacing one that got lost, but overall I have no issues with this brush. I in general use rapidograph ink instead of what comes with it, as I don't think it's dark enough but even that process takes very little time or effort. The size is also much better for my use than the larger sizes available. it's a versatile tool that gives great variation of line.

the ink flow is real nice, but it takes a while to dry on some papers, so be careful of smudge and you may want to keep some tissue around to absorb any excess ink.

I just got this pen and it is veryyyyyyyyy cool. I am an artist and I found having a super brush tip pen would help with drawing bigger pictures with varying line control which this does have. My only thing with this pen is that when you squeeze do becareful because it can drip ffrom the top of the tip. Other than that the ink is very black and the consistency is good.

I've used these Pentel brush pens for over a decade. They are perfect for doing ink illustrations. Line control is excellent. Highly recommended for artists.

Others have said most...

Others have said most everything. I'll add what was left out. This pen is just like a waterbrush (i have Pentel's Aquash) with black ink attached rather than plain water. The flow is annoying to control but the brush head is lovely. I'm not sure if the flow issue was unique to my brush, but it would dry up after about 4" of line (but I faced similar issues w/ the Medium Tip Pentel brushpen)... I like dry brush techniques but this isn't that, this was a dead brush. I wish I could like this pen. The price makes me shudder so my thoughts are: just get a waterbrush (same price). It's more versatile and the flow is better.
