Pilot has launched an exciting new concept in recycled writing instruments.

The name says it all! Bottle to Pen (i.e. B2P) is a retractable, refillable gel ink pen, which is made from recycled plastic bottles and designed to look like one too.  Its clever bottle-styled barrel mirrors the product it’s made from, and shows that everyday products can have a second life.

B2P has outstanding environmental credentials as 89% of its components are made from recycled material. Innovative design and environmental excellence are just part of the story as it’s designed to give superb writing performance in three vivid gel ink colors - black, blue or red. Accepts Pilot G-2 gel ink refills.

I bought my first B2P...
I bought my first B2P pens just after they came out. This is a neat body for the Pilot G-2 Refill. I found that I liked it much better when I removed the label. I found I really liked this body. There's a good grip area on the body that extends pretty much all of the body that is easy to hold onto. There's not rubber/gel to attract dust. Add to that I have found this pen takes many other refills. I have tried Uni 207s in 0.7 and 1.0, Pentel EnerGels in 0.7, and Sarasa Gels in 0.7 and 1.0. Also I've found that the Jetstream BallPoints fit this body! I have 6 now and I think each one has a different refill in it!

My purchases: I bought...

My purchases: I bought B2P in colors black and blue.

In dim-lighting, the identical barrel coloration and design of each pen make the pens very difficult to differentiate. I think the only noticeable ink indicators are only visible under brighter light: the lighter blue ink of the blue pen, the pen clicker colors, and the written color indicators on the pen labels. I have found it too easy to accidentally presume the dark-blue barrel of the black pen indicates blue ink, or vice versa, since the barrels are the exact same in dark-blue plastic coloring. I think this is a minor, or maybe major, problem, with implications for many specific writing needs and particular environment conditions; and due to it, I have limited my use of B2P pens for informal, casual, non-professional use only.

My issues with the B2P identical barrel coloration aside, for such a reasonable price, and very cool concept, buying several B2P pens seemed like a great idea, and I would buy more again. The pen cost is inexpensive for the higher quality of pens I believe I have with my B2Ps compared to even cheaper alternatives. So, considering the low-cost alone, and noble cause to bring awareness to environmental implications, overall I think the B2Ps are better than OK. The ink performance is good, and up to the standard of quality I have gratefully experienced from all Pilot pens. In the future though, I would consider buying or using only one of the three colors of B2P ink options available... I hope this information is helpful to you!

I had one of these pens...

I had one of these pens in the past and forgot why I didn't use it as my everyday pen. I found that out after getting this one. The B2P label in the middle of the pen starts to detach where it overlaps so that you end up feeling a portion of the label as you write with it. I think I'll remove the label and clean up the glue and keep using the pen.

This writes well since it used the G-2 refill and hasn't caused me any issues.

Interesting concept,...

Interesting concept, but the pen is noisy, it rattles a lot when writing, as a pen it should be as silent as possible. The 0.7mm line is very thick.
