These pencils are really really great. I've tried several different mechanical colored pencils, and these are my favorite. I bought all of the colors, and found them to be of equal quality. The lead seems to have just the right combination of hardness to avoid the constant breakages I experienced with other brands, and yet is soft enough to mark on the coated paper one finds in student workbooks. I use them primarily for marking up papers, but have also used them for sketching and found them to be up to the task. What is more, they look lovely all lined up in a Saki roll up pencil case, and you can easily get more colored lead for them here, so you don't have to throw away the pencil when you've used up the included lead. I have found that all of the colors erase well, and the pencils are comfortable and light in my hand. The only little issue with these pencils seems to be that the colors aren't lightfast. I haven't experienced this problem myself, but it is well-documented and the lead refills actually carry a warning to that effect. See here: http://davesmechanicalpencils.blogspot.com/2009/05/blue-lead-fade-testing.html Even so, I can recommend these pencils without hesitation.

I have three Pilot Color Eno pencils: this, the violet, and the light blue. The violet is quite dark, great for writing, not so great for erasing; while the light blue feels a little too light at times. Of the three, I find the red to be the best for drawing -- dark enough to show up clearly against the paper, light enough to easily erased and inked over. Take note that the lead lays down more of a light red/pinkish color than the very vibrant bright red of the casing.

I love these pencils. I got the yellow one and the lead is great. The color is very vibrant and pretty transparent because it's yellow after all it's hard to see anyway. But I just love the mechanical pencil itself. I just bought it to use as a regular mechanical pencil and works like magic! I love this pencil! :)

I like this Mechanical pencil but with some certain types of paper it doesn't write very well. When I try to erase it doesn't erase completely.

Love it! It is a little pale in comparison to bright red, but definitely will come in hand for organic chemistry when I doing reactions.

I became interested in colored lead mechanical pencils ever since I figured out that many artists like to sketch with a light blue or red pencil. After obtaining that information, the search was on for a new sketching companion. If you're looking for an inexpensive sketching tool that utilizes color, look no further!
I've used this mechanical pencil for over three years and it has yet to fail on me! In fact, I'm sure that I've received well over my money's worth out of this wonderful pencil. A REALLY great thing about using these pencils for sketching is that they don't smudge nearly as much as regular graphite. This red is so vivid and is a wonderful shade to work with! I tend to switch colors frequently when I use these pencils, so when I'm in the mood to use red, this pencil surely satisfies.
But this pencil is not entirely perfect—shouldn't be expected since it is inexpensive. The eraser on it is completely useless after erasing about five things since the lead is not your ordinary graphite. If you're looking to use this for sketching purposes, it's always a good decision to carry a bigger eraser. The lead is also a bit more fragile than graphite. It's not BAD, it's kinda like they took the inside of an actual colored pencil and made it into tiny pieces of lead. If you're looking for more info on the lead, check out the corresponding refill page.
Besides that, this is definitely a reliable tool for all of your color-sketch needs.

Very happy with color. the lead writes very nice (doesn't erase completely, but i expected that) and the pencil is comfortable. So happy to finally find mechanical colored pencils! :)
