I have used Eno leads for years but this last order of yellow were horrible. I ordered 6 packs of them, and all of them were the same. The lead was brittle, hard, and you almost had to scratch the paper in order to leave any color on the page. Mechanical colored pencils are a brilliant idea, but this is just a poor product. I ordered some blue and violet at the same time with no issues - nice and soft with good color coverage. But avoid these yellow leads. My previous Eno yellow leads were wonderful so I am wondering if this is a changed formulation at the factory? Or?

Leads are brittle and hard. Almost have to scratch the paper in order to leave colour on the page. Violet and blue leads are fine - no issues. My previous yellow leads had no such issues... are these old stock?

I use this yellow lead to mark on ebony fingerboards for the instruments I build. I prefer mechanical pencils for a consistent line width and no need to constantly sharpen. The yellow shoes up better than any other color on ebony.

Love the different colors they have. But if writing too hard, it breaks easily. I still love using these leads to match my eno colored mechanical pencils.
