Pilot Drawing Pen 03 (SW-DR3-B)

The Pilot Drawing Pen is a cornerstone classic for artwork and technical drawings. Popular in Europe and Asia, these pens have pigment type ink that makes them excellent water and light resistant pens. They write with sharp, clean colors that allow illustrations to keep their clarity and depth.

Check out these beautiful gift tags created by JetPens friend Hollis Lopez. All the black ink outlines and drawings are done with a Pilot Drawing 02 pen, the color part is from a stamp by Close to My Heart.

The Pilot Drawing pen that was used for the outlines on the rubber stamped gift tags is STILL going strong! I have used it for over two years and it has not dried out or lost its tip. This pen has outlasted several other brands that were much more expensive. The only problem with this pen is once you purchase it, it will be a long time before you will need to buy more!

I purchased this pen about a year ago for drawing very fine details such as hair, mustache, facial hair etc. It works great and is always consistent.

These pens have a really stiff, sharp tip that causes them to spray and make irregular, scratchy lines. If you are trying to do a fine, clear line drawing you will find yourself very frustrated. However, if you are using them for cross hatching and shading they are absolutely brilliant and produce a very nice, almost dip pen quality line. Take that for whats its worth. I use the 005 for the finishing touches on all of my ink drawings.

This pen is VERY fine, it is great for sketching and inking over. However you need to be aware that since the tip is so fine you can't press down too hard or you will push the tip back into the pen. I think that is common knowledge for felt tip pens by now however, excellent pen.

Love this pen. I use it to write in my First Aid for The USMLE STEP1 Book and also my Pathoma book. The ink doesn't smear, the nib doesn't wear out at all. Highly recommended.
