The long awaited retractable version of the popular Pilot FriXion line is here! Pen features the same beloved thermo-sensitive ink that can be erased by friction, but now comes in a sleek, retractable body. Just push the clip to extend and retract the tip. A subtle yellow color appears along the barrel side to show when the pen is extended. The special rubber tip at the end allows you to erase conveniently without having to cap or uncap your pen. The pen writes smoothly and erases without a trace! Refills available for select ink colors and point sizes only.

Interestingly enough, the ink in these pens will actually reappear when the temperature reaches below - 10 C (under 14 Fahrenheit). A freezer is sufficiently cold enough to make the ink start to reappear. It is like a magic pen for adults!

Because the ink in this pen is thermo sensitive, we do not advise for it to be left in hot cars, used for mailing, or subjected to a condition that exposes it to a lot of friction.

Q: My Pilot FriXion pen is not writing well. It seems to be dried out or writing with clear ink. What should I do?
The FriXion ink formula is thermo-sensitive, which causes it to become invisible when heat from friction is applied. If the pen has been exposed to warm temperatures or direct sunlight, this may have caused the ink inside the pen to be "erased." Please try to store the pens in your freezer overnight, then remove them for an hour or two prior to writing to allow them to come back to room temperature. This can usually reactivate the coloring in the ink and allow the pens to write as normal.

Very fluid and smooth! However, I think the ink runs out faster because it's flow is so fast.

I love the Frixion line!...

I love the Frixion line! I'm glad they finally made the eraser more accessible with the retractable version (on the OUTSIDE, rather than having to take the cap off the end while in use). I use these pens to grade papers, so there are no more "oops" or scratch-outs for me--just a quick erase, and print is gone with no erasures left behind! Be careful not to leave these pens or anything printed with them in a hot environment, however, because the ink disappears with heat. Pop the pen and/or paper in the freezer to restore to original state. It comes in a great variety of colors, so I never have to worry about confusing my comments with students', but I'm known for my signature "purple". :) Enjoy!
