DescriptionSpecificationsFrequently Asked Questions (1)
Enjoy Pilot's popular FriXion ink in a lean pen body. And a lean tip size! The FriXion Ball Slim has a 0.38 mm tip, perfect for everyday writing as well as the tiny annotations you need to cram into the margins of your textbooks. The svelte clip-less profile lets you pile a bunch of them in your pen case with room to spare for more pens and pencils. You can even hang your pen, by stringing a lanyard through the hole in the knocker.

FriXion ink is a thermosensitive ink that can be erased by rubbing. To erase, use the special rubber “eraser” tip at the top of the pen and watch the ink cleanly disappear.

Interestingly, erased ink reappears at temperatures below 14° F (-10° C). A freezer is cold enough to make this happen. It is like magic ink for adults! Due to the thermosensitive nature of FriXion ink, we advise against using it for mailings, or leaving the written materials in hot cars or in environments that expose them to a lot of friction.

Note: To change the refill, unscrew the transparent grip area to remove it. Pull out the old refill and insert the new refill, ensuring that it is securely held in place. Then, screw the transparent piece back on.

Q: My Pilot FriXion pen is not writing well. It seems to be dried out or writing with clear ink. What should I do?
The FriXion ink formula is thermo-sensitive, which causes it to become invisible when heat from friction is applied. If the pen has been exposed to warm temperatures or direct sunlight, this may have caused the ink inside the pen to be "erased." Please try to store the pens in your freezer overnight, then remove them for an hour or two prior to writing to allow them to come back to room temperature. This can usually reactivate the coloring in the ink and allow the pens to write as normal.

I love the way these pens write and I was so glad they made a slim version - but I got my JP order and the pen ran out of ink not two weeks later! Quite disappointing.

I love these pens, the erasible-ness (my new favorite non-word), the lovely fine tip and no issues in my Kokuyo notebooks. However, I managed to use all the ink in 2 pens in less than 2 weeks. I like them enough to pay for the refills but the capacity is ridiculously small.

I used the .5 frixion in my organizer before I ordered this one. I really like the finer line, and love being able to erase appointments when they change. The problem I have is that this pen starts out fine - then starts to skip and I can't get it going again. As much as I like the finer tip - I will be going back to the .5. I get really irritated when my pen won't function.

Love love love these. I use them for Chinese class and they work perfect for that. I highly recommend that if you live in a hot climate don't leave your notes in your car ;), you're notes will disappear, but you can put them in the freezer to get them back.

Love love love this Friction! Even though I use 0.5 Friction, it is too thick for me. 0.38! Finally I got my favorite fine point in friction. I hope Jetpens has refills for blue ink.
