Like the popular Pilot FriXion pens, these Frixion color pencils are erasable. Kids will enjoy them, because they can go wild with their coloring and not worry about coloring outside the lines or picking the wrong color. Just rub with the special rubber tip and voila! Mistakes are gone. You can even use the “eraser” to create highlights and add more dimension to your drawing. Best of all, there are no messy eraser shavings. The pencil also has a blank space for writing your name.

The pencil comes unsharpened.

FriXion pencil lead is a thermosensitive lead that can be erased by rubbing. Interestingly, erased color reappears at temperatures below 14° F (-10° C). A freezer is cold enough to make this happen. Due to the thermosensitive nature of FriXion lead, we advise against using it for mailings, or leaving the written materials in hot cars or in environments that expose them to a lot of friction.

Children using these pencils should be supervised. The pencils should not be used on surfaces other than paper. Due to the softness of the lead, sharpening the pencils to a very sharp point may make them break easily. Drawing or writing quickly with strong pressure may result in faded color.

It erases great! Downside is that the color it makes is a little milky. It isn't like drawing with a standard colored pencil and is quite a bit softer. Picture writing with smooth, hard rubber and that's the feel of this pencil. It does it's job though! The color isn't super bright or bold, but it is close to how it's advertised. I think it's a bit pricey for what it is.

The lead is soft and waxy, so light lines aren't really a strong suit. However, this pencil has the cleanest erasing ability I have ever seen. You wouldn't even know a mark was made if light enough pressure was used! Just keep the sharpener handy as you will be using it quite a bit.
