Like the popular Pilot FriXion pens, these Frixion color pencils are erasable. Kids will enjoy them, because they can go wild with their coloring and not worry about coloring outside the lines or picking the wrong color. Just rub with the special rubber tip and voila! Mistakes are gone. You can even use the “eraser” to create highlights and add more dimension to your drawing. Best of all, there are no messy eraser shavings. The pencil also has a blank space for writing your name.

The pencil comes unsharpened.

FriXion pencil lead is a thermosensitive lead that can be erased by rubbing. Interestingly, erased color reappears at temperatures below 14° F (-10° C). A freezer is cold enough to make this happen. Due to the thermosensitive nature of FriXion lead, we advise against using it for mailings, or leaving the written materials in hot cars or in environments that expose them to a lot of friction.

Children using these pencils should be supervised. The pencils should not be used on surfaces other than paper. Due to the softness of the lead, sharpening the pencils to a very sharp point may make them break easily. Drawing or writing quickly with strong pressure may result in faded color.

Q: My Pilot FriXion pen is not writing well. It seems to be dried out or writing with clear ink. What should I do?
The FriXion ink formula is thermo-sensitive, which causes it to become invisible when heat from friction is applied. If the pen has been exposed to warm temperatures or direct sunlight, this may have caused the ink inside the pen to be "erased." Please try to store the pens in your freezer overnight, then remove them for an hour or two prior to writing to allow them to come back to room temperature. This can usually reactivate the coloring in the ink and allow the pens to write as normal.

Both my boyfriend and I love to sketch with these pencils. We both have issues seeing non-photo blue, so finding this pencil was a god-send. Light enough to draw over, pigmented enough to actually see, and the ERASER. THE ERASER IS WONDERFUL. I wouldn't call the lead soft but it's certainly smooth without being greasy, plus when you use the (ultra amazing) eraser, there's 1) no scratch marks from the pencil and 2) no trace of the penciling itself. I wish all pencil/eraser combos were this good.

The only issue is that these pencils are delicate little flowers and the lead was shattered to pieces inside. We'd have to sharpen a good inch to find a part of the lead that wasn't broken. (I ordered 2 the first time and we annihilated them both within a couple days as a result.) I don't know if it's the lead itself or they're being violently tossed around during shipping. If I could request anything, it would be selling these in 10 packs (safe and sound in their box, plus bulk ordering!), or maybe a little extra bubble wrap.

Love these pencils, just need to find a way of keeping the lead from breaking so much.

I was hoping for a better new non-photo blue pencil. This one is just okay. The lead is a bit too soft for my liking, and sketching just eats through the lead like butter. It feels nice, but it's hard to keep it crisp and sharp. Almost feels like drawing with a conte crayon. The eraser was stiffer than I imagined. It's strange and translucent, and the erasing doesn't quite remove the lead off the paper. It's a little smudgy.
The good points are that this pencil is great for large, loose sketching; great for gesture drawing and other non detailed works. The tone is perfect for scanning it out as well.

I ordered this pencil for sketching and it's really great for it. The colour is not so intense so if you want a blue pencil with extra vivid colour then it's not what you want. The eraser is great as well, really easy to erase the lines with it, but other erasers are also good for this pencil.
