DescriptionSpecificationsFrequently Asked Questions (1)
Pilot Japan has broken the barrier between pencils and erasable gel pens! To highlight this fact, their newest FriXion pens have plastic bodies reminiscent of wooden pencils. These erasable gel pens write in vibrant gel colors that are unattainable with colored pencil lead. The pens are so erasable, you'll be amazed. An incredible selection of 24 colors is available.

Interestingly enough, the ink in these pens will actually reappear when the temperature reaches below -10 C (under 14 Fahrenheit). A freezer is sufficiently cold enough to make the ink start to reappear, you can watch a video on how it works here. It is like a magic pen for adults!

Because the ink in this pen is thermo sensitive, we do not advise for it to be left in hot cars, used for mailing, or subjected to a condition that exposes it to a lot of friction. Please keep in mind that due to difference in design, the Pilot FriXion Color-Pencil-Like pens have a shorter lifespan when in use, compared to the regular FriXion line of gel pens.

Q: My Pilot FriXion pen is not writing well. It seems to be dried out or writing with clear ink. What should I do?
The FriXion ink formula is thermo-sensitive, which causes it to become invisible when heat from friction is applied. If the pen has been exposed to warm temperatures or direct sunlight, this may have caused the ink inside the pen to be "erased." Please try to store the pens in your freezer overnight, then remove them for an hour or two prior to writing to allow them to come back to room temperature. This can usually reactivate the coloring in the ink and allow the pens to write as normal.

to be honest i'm a little disappointed in this gel pen, i thought it would a lot smoother considering all the great reviews here, i would definitely like the tip to be finer preferably a 0.5 mm, and for the gel to be less skippy as i feel i have to apply a lot of pressure to get it to write without skipping.

I love these in all of their colors (The darker colors tend to stain and not erase completely). This color, in particular, is my favorite. It's color is pretty light, but super cute

I personally don't like .7mm. I'm a fan of needle point. However, the ink is nice and opaque and having the eraser on the cap is a huge improvement over having to uncap it every time you use it.

This pen writes so smoothly and erases like it was never there. It's comfortable to hold and doesn't need too much pressure to write (I have arthritis in my fingers), much like a pencil gliding over the paper. I love this pen, but it's too thick for my liking. I'd be happier with a 0.5mm in the same color.
