DescriptionSpecificationsFrequently Asked Questions (1)
Pilot Japan has broken the barrier between pencils and erasable gel pens! To highlight this fact, their newest FriXion pens have plastic bodies reminiscent of wooden pencils. These erasable gel pens write in vibrant gel colors that are unattainable with colored pencil lead. The pens are so erasable, you'll be amazed. An incredible selection of 24 colors is available.

Interestingly enough, the ink in these pens will actually reappear when the temperature reaches below -10 C (under 14 Fahrenheit). A freezer is sufficiently cold enough to make the ink start to reappear, you can watch a video on how it works here. It is like a magic pen for adults!

Because the ink in this pen is thermo sensitive, we do not advise for it to be left in hot cars, used for mailing, or subjected to a condition that exposes it to a lot of friction. Please keep in mind that due to difference in design, the Pilot FriXion Color-Pencil-Like pens have a shorter lifespan when in use, compared to the regular FriXion line of gel pens.

Q: My Pilot FriXion pen is not writing well. It seems to be dried out or writing with clear ink. What should I do?
The FriXion ink formula is thermo-sensitive, which causes it to become invisible when heat from friction is applied. If the pen has been exposed to warm temperatures or direct sunlight, this may have caused the ink inside the pen to be "erased." Please try to store the pens in your freezer overnight, then remove them for an hour or two prior to writing to allow them to come back to room temperature. This can usually reactivate the coloring in the ink and allow the pens to write as normal.

Loved this pen! Used it almost every day until it ran out. Writes really smoothly and the erasing is phenomenal!

I really like this pen for taking notes in math class. The fact that I can erase is a big plus! The color is also very nice. Darker than the picture, but a really nice color. I will be ordering more of these.

The erase able part is great, nice bold lines-really bold! But it clumps or globs as soon as you pause or stop writing. I wanted it to be nicer than it is, love a lot of pilot pens, just not this one. It just seems to thick.and the glos and smears make it unacceptable. Think this one over, first. Tried the purple just in case, same globby ink.

My writing tutorial program team processes and edits about 1000 student papers a week. We use FriXion pens for everything so that our edits always look nice and neat without white out blobs. The pens write well, don't blob or clump, and erase easily when needed. We've tried other erasables, but the FriXion are always the best.
