The Pilot FriXion Erasable Gel Ink Pens erase by FRICTION, they are like a magic pen for adults! The pens have a special rubber end to rub the thermo sensitive ink away with, thus no eraser by-products are produced, yet the ink disappears magnificently (and the rubber never wears out!) The pen writes smoothly, in vibrant colors, and erases without a trace! Best of all, they are made of 76% recycled plastic.

Interestingly enough, the ink in these pens will actually reappear when the temperature reaches below – 10 C (under 14 Fahrenheit). A freezer is sufficiently cold enough to make the ink start to reappear. It is like a magic pen for adults!

Because the ink in this pen is thermo sensitive, we do not advise for it to be left in hot cars, used for mailing, or subjected to a condition that exposes it to a lot of friction.

Q: My Pilot FriXion pen is not writing well. It seems to be dried out or writing with clear ink. What should I do?
The FriXion ink formula is thermo-sensitive, which causes it to become invisible when heat from friction is applied. If the pen has been exposed to warm temperatures or direct sunlight, this may have caused the ink inside the pen to be "erased." Please try to store the pens in your freezer overnight, then remove them for an hour or two prior to writing to allow them to come back to room temperature. This can usually reactivate the coloring in the ink and allow the pens to write as normal.

I really love this pen, the only thing I don't like about it, is that it is a little too light for my taste. It is darker than the black which I am pretty satisfied with.

It writes really smooth, though it does take about 2 seconds to get the flow going, after that it is pretty amazing from there.

I would recommend this pen to anyone who loves the idea of erasing ink :)

Loved the pen when it worked....
It clogged after 1 week of very light use.
Never again.

This one is my favorite pen. It's the only kind I've seen that erases completely. Sometimes there's a bit of a smudge if you try to erase something immediately after you write it, but wait a couple of seconds and it'll be good. The only thing I dislike is the eraser being on the back of the pen instead of the cap. Also, kind of annoying having to remember to not leave it in the car in hot weather, but that's partly because where I live is hot about 9 months of the year _._
