Asia has some of the worlds finest modern brush pens due to its long history with art and calligraphy. In Japan, black and gray brush pens are used frequently during the holidays for elegant writing on cards in announcements. Many artists have fallen in love with such brush pens because these colors are often used together in artwork. The pen is double-sided with a black ink felt tip brush on one side and a gray ink brush on the other side. It is perfect for outlining and shading and is fairly water-resistant. Appropriately, it is called "Futayaku," which means "two uses" in Japanese. The two hard brush tips make it is easy to create controlled brush strokes, which is sometimes challenging with softer tips.

I just got this pen to use for my illustration & comic work. I've done one small drawing with it, and it worked great! When I colored over the lines with my markers (half copics, half trias) it didn't bleed at all. Tip is nice and firm, just waiting out to see how well it holds it's sharp tip with continued use. But so far I'm loving it. :D

This double sided pen is neat for quick doodles, but nothing serious. The black ink is nice and dark, and soaks into the paper well, but the grey tends to streak and pill up the paper if applied too heavily. Also, it kinda bugged me that the ink is a cool black, while the grey is warm toned. Minor nitpick. Whatever. Also, for some reason, the black in was NOT Copic proof for me. Though, that could have just been the paper.

Love this pen! I am a manga artist and have used mainly copic liners for my work. The pilot pen gives you better lines and a slicker look to your work. It does not smudge with the copic markers and dries quickly. I was looking for s brush type pen different from the copic or micron brush types which are a felt tip type so the pilot pen is a perfect mix of brush and technical pen. The only down side is it is not refillable, but I believe they have one which is. Regardless I will be reordering this type of pen again.
