This is a wonderfully functional brush pen from Pilot. It is double-sided, with a fine brush tip on one end and a medium brush tip on the other. Appropriately, it is called "Futayaku," which means "two uses" in Japanese. The two hard brush tips make it easy to create beautiful brush-stroke lettering, which is sometimes challenging with softer tips.

i absolutely adore the weight and fluidity of the medium nib on this one. the fine nib is fantastic, too, it's just soft enough where i can get a really fine taper on my strokes. the ink takes very well to the med-grain paper i use, i like how light it feels!

One of the best art purchases I've made in my entire career! The ink flows easily out of the tips, and I love the duality of having a fine side for lineart and details and a thick side for filling in dark areas/shadows. The ink doesn't bleed through my sketchbook (Canson XL Mix Media pad), so that comes as an added bonus too. I'd avoid using with watercolors as this ink doesn't take water very well.

Highly recommended for anyone who creates comics or traditional illustrations!

After a friend and I...
October 19, 2016
After a friend and I received this pen, we were initially pleased with our purchase. However, after only several uses, the medium tip became frayed and was no longer usable for calligraphy. Though the fine tip was wonderful and the pen met expectations on most fronts, I would only give this pen two stars. Though the pen is aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable to use, the fraying of the tip shows that this might not have been the quality brush pen that my friend and I were looking for. I would instead recommend the Tombow Dual Brush Pens for this purchase, or the Sailor Fude Nagomi brush pen.
