This is a writing pen, not a drawing pen. Not that there's anything wrong with that; as writing pens go they're decent. I'm just trying to provide useful information to would-be purchasers who've been hoping to find a good retractable art pen with no cap to lose-- this ISN'T that pen.

This is one of my first choices when I think of affordable exceptional quality pens. the G-2.
The grip is nice and grippy for a start and the pen writes nice smooth thin lines on paper. Laos the pen lasted a very long time yet had much everyday use. This truly showcases some of Pilots most Affordable but high in quality pens.

This pen writes very well but stops working very quickly if it is used on low quality paper (because of the tiny wood chips in paper which get stuck between the ball). This problem is solved it you get a paper towel and dip it in alcohol and roll the ball. It writes like nothing did before but the problem is very, very annoying.

This pen writes as well as the other G-2's but the ink is much lighter than depicted in the picture so I'm only giving it a 3. In fact, I think the shade is too light to be practical for most uses.

The ink color is virtually the same as the burgundy 'port red' Zebra Sarasa. I have both with 0.7mm tips and the only notable difference is that the Zebra writes slightly wider than the Pilot. A good pen and color. I like the G-2's clip better than the Zebra's as well.

Very smooth and has good color but... it doesn't dry fast enough as my journal is full of smearing and smudges. The Uni-Ball Signo RT 0.38mm is my weapon of choice compared to this pen.

The color is more violet than purple and it's a bit on the scratchy side.
But for the price it's ok. The ballpoint spring rattles a bit when writing
but still for the price, it's fine.

Love, love, love the G2 0.38s! I've read the reviews where they've just stopped working but I've never had this happen. Most of the time my ink barrel gets down to the very end before I can tell that the color is starting to thin, indicating that it is time to start a new one. I do a TON of writing, as in going through about 5-7 of these/month so that speaks to the volume of pens that I've gone through without experiencing that problem.

This pen isn't bad. But I bought it along with the Uni-ball Signo DX UM-151 Gel Ink Pen (also 0.38 mm), and I've found that one to be much better, so I don't think I'll be using this one much.

Unlike this one, the Uni-ball doesn't stop making a line if you tilt it to the side a bit, only to suddenly give a thick one when you press a little harder or tilt it back upright. This pen is a bit fickle, in comparison - it doesn't have a lot of in-between, it either makes a line or it doesn't.

I think that it should be a pretty good pen for writing, actually, but not for illustration (which is what I bought it for). But the Uni-ball is a better pen all-around, good for writing AND illustration and it's almost the same price... so I'd recommend getting it instead.

The ink's color is bright lavender; I love it. This is a nice departure from the ordinary black or blue color.

I had one and I gave it away. It worked pretty well for most kinds of paper, but some of the rougher kinds it had problems.
Another bad thing about it for me was that it was a bit scratchy and not as smoth as other 0.5 mm gel pens... But it might have been just that one pen. I prefer the 0.7 mm pen for the bold lines and always smooth writing.

Noisy pen, rattles a lot when writing, thick lines for a 0.5mm, in the past many refills of the Pilot G-2 stopped working even at 80% left.

The ink is much lighter than shown in the picture, which was disappointing as I had hoped for a darker, burnt orange. This is an average bright orange. Good color and pen if that's what you want, but I'm rating this pen a 3 because the ink tone in the picture is misleading.

A nice dark blue ink and it writes well.

I love this pen. it is absolutely very handy, and its very smooth. the texture is smooth, and you can write long hours with this pen. i would TOTALLY recommend this pen. i guarantee if you buy this, you wont regret it. I just bought this for my daughter(15 right now) and she loves the pen. i also got her all sorts of other colors too, such as green,black,pink,purple,orange and red. The red will be a great choice because of maybe test corrections at school, or anything you need to highlight to reminded of. Try out buying this pen! i'm sure you wont regret buying this

Growing up in America, my favorite pen all throughout middle school was the Pilot 0.7 Pen because of its dark ink and smooth lines. When I found out they had a 0.5 I immediately grew attached to those because I naturally have small handwriting. In high school I eventually switched to the Zebra Sarasa pens just because they were more smooth but thats beside the point...

BUT when I started working at the froyo place called BerryCup, they had these pens and I was like "woah, these are so cool". So I went to staples to try and find them. Much to my demise, I couldn't find them so I was kind of like... "where did my bosses get these cool pens?" so I googled it and TADAAAA I came here and fell in love with Jetpens because it is an amazing site.

Pros:
Darkkkkkk ink
Thin for pilot G2 standards
Would look good on a handwritten application for a job or something professional
Good for small handwriting, makes large handwriting look neater
Fairly cheap (in comparison to Hi-Tech-C but of course not as thin)

Cons:
Writes scratchy on thin pieces of paper

Overall, I'm glad I finally found these pens. I love the blue color and the red is super bright! I'm a huge fan of pilot pens and wish they sold this stuff in american stores...

A few notes about my writing style:
I write quickly with a light touch and my normal print fits nicely on college ruled paper. I’m a righty and my handwriting is mediocre at best, so I tend to choose finer point gel/ball point pens to help with legibility. I don’t use liquid pens because they tend to spew ink when I twirl them while I’m thinking.

This is my go-to pen when I'm studying. 0.38mm is really the perfect balance between fineness and smoothness, especially with Pilot pens. I've gone through over a dozen refills with this platform and haven't had any complaints. The grip starts nice and low which is important to me because I hold my pens relatively close to the tip. The click is satisfying and the pen itself is of the highest quality. I hate losing pens but at less than $2 each, I didn't get upset when one walked away. In my opinion, this is the best ultra-fine gel pen available but I've recently started experimenting with newcomers and old time favorites, so this might soon change!

I LOVE these pens. I always recommend them to my friends. The only problem is that they run out of ink quickly.

This is your typical green shade. But what I love about the pen is it writes (glides) smoothly. The "fineness"of the tip is just perfect for me.

Glides perfectly as you write. Ink is consistent throughout. Love this pen!
I hope Jetpens will also sell the other colors like Peacock gree, sky blue, pink, dark red! Will buy for sure!

My favorite pen. I use it all the time. Ultra fine point may not work well for those that write with a lot of pressure.

G2 is the best pen ever!!!!!!!!!!! It can write like HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

This pen is great. I like all of the Pilots. If you put them in your pocket though make sure you dont run with them in their pocket.They will leak though. Hey but they are great pens. Very smooth.Very good grip.

The Pilot G2 is the best pen I have ever used. It is very smooth, and only one of the pens I have used skipped! Perfect pen!
