One 0.3 mm mechanical pencil component only. Requires at least one pen body. The tip is spring-loaded so when you press down on the cartridge cap while it is in the Coleto body, lead will extend. To refill more lead, remove the cartridge from the Coleto body and turn the component upside down. Pull the tip (where the plastic meets the metal) to remove it and refill lead into the metal tube. Re-attach tip and insert back into Coleto body.

Innovation abounds in Japan and Pilot has added a new 0.3 mm mechanical pencil cartridge for the Pilot Coleto. Now you can customize your very own multi-pen with your favorite Hi-Tec-C gel pen colors, and include a mechanical pencil too! Eraser refills for the Coleto are also available. Pop in the pen, pencil, stylus or eraser cartridge of your choice into an empty Coleto body to create your very own customizable multi Hi-Tec-C pen!

Note: When installing a Hi-Tec-C Coleto component, make sure to line up the small fins on either side of the component's plastic push button with the grooves on either side of the component slot in the pen body.

I was -really- hopeful for this pencil component, but upon using it, it's a bit clunky. The clicking motion is difficult to get at first. I struggled to figure it out, even with the video tutorial. It just takes clicking it harder than you think you might need to. But the biggest problem I have with these Coleto pencil components is that the metal barrel spins within the plastic lead-holding tube part. Basically it results in the whole pencil component rotating towards the flat side of the mechanical pencil lead. It's impossible, no matter how I turn the whole pen, to write with the sharp tip of the pencil because the metal always rotates within it's own component. I'm relatively heavy handed, but even writing lightly with it has the same result over time. I also own the .5mm mechanical pencil component and it does the same thing.

This mechanical pencil component absolutely DOES NOT WORK VERY WELL. I put mine into a Coleto sweet 4 and while I'm writing with it, it retracts every few minutes. I have tried changing the amounts of pressure I use while writing, I have tried to extend the component slowly just until it locks, but no matter what, it retracts while writing. This is beyond annoying, I don't feel like I got what I paid for....

A great addition to the Coleto, especially if one wants to write thin and neat lines with a 0.3 mm pencil. However, the method of lead advancement is rather awkward to operate.

Unlike the .3mm gel refills, I really like this mechanical pencil refill. I am not a frequent pencil user, but this is a very good option for tracing lines for cuts, etc. Like it, and will purchase again.
