This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.4 mm - Basic Colors - Blue Black
I have finally found my favorite pen! I had heard all sorts of good things about the Hi-Tec-C pens, and finally got around to trying them. The 0.4mm Blue Black pen will be my writing instrument of choice for as long as I can get my hands on it. It's a precisely fine line in a wonderful shade. I have not had any issues with the ink skipping, and have found the pen to write wonderfully every time.

This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.3 mm - Basic Colors - 10 Pen Gift Set
I bought my first set in 1995 when stationed on Okinawa Japan. They are awesome for use as drafting, sketching, calligraphy, etc. I bought this set along with the Yawaragi set in June 2007. I plan to buy the rest within the next couple of months. I will RECOMMEND these pens to anybody who does paperwork with small spaces.

This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.4 mm - Yawaragi Colors - Usuzumi (Light Sumi Gray)
A Pilot Hi-Tec-C, therefore a great pen. But personally I prefer conical point pens. Doesn't have an anti sliding rubber, so it is a bit tiring to write with it.

The color is kind of washed out, I'm not sure if that is the desired effect of the Yawaragi colors.

Disappearing ink! This..., April 1, 2013
This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.3 mm - Basic Colors - Brown
Disappearing ink!
This pen writes very nicely and appears to be well designed except for one killer flaw: the ink is extremely light-sensitive. As part of a lightfastness test, I tried out a range of inks and writing pens, including this one, on strips of paper. One test strip went into a window that receives several hours of sun on sunny days. A duplicate went into a closed drawer.

I was shocked when I peeked a week later, not expecting any changes so early. None of the other samples had faded yet, but the sample of writing from this pen was ALMOST GONE. After another week, it had entirely disappeared! (The duplicate sample in the dark drawer had not changed.) Meanwhile, my other standard writing pens, also with black or brown dye-based inks, had not faded noticeably.

Now, this is early March in New England, not known for its powerful sun exposure anyway, and there were at least as many cloudy days as sunny ones. That ink disappeared faster than any I have ever seen. I would assume that even in a normally lit room it would fade so much that documents left out on a desktop would fade within a week or two. This is not acceptable. The people at Pilot know what dyes are in its inks and knows that this ink is extremely fugitive, much more than other dye-based inks. Shame on them!

This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.4 mm - Yawaragi Colors - Usuzumi (Light Sumi Gray)
I love the Hi-Tec C pens, and this color is interesting because it looks almost like graphite on paper - the color is similar to mechanical pencil line.

That being said, it seems less smooth than the standard black or blue, and maybe because of the lighter shade, it also feels like a thinner line. Compared to the .4mm blue, this pen writes more like a .3mm.

I enjoy using this pen for everyday use.

The colour almost looks like pencil but is still completely readable. The colour is not too light and writes well.

My elegance pink won't write either. I have a wine-red Hi-Tec C that is at least 4 years old and it's fine. The newer Elegance Pink is dead.

I love these pens. They used to have the 5 pack in Staples but they have since disappeared. Thank God for jetpens because I've been looking for them everywhere!!! I am a med student whose hospital has yet to convert to electronic medical records and these pens make note writing and pt documentation bearable :-)

These are GREAT pens! I cannot stress how much I love them. I purchased a Hi-Tec-C gel pen with a grip; I only wished that they had all of them with grips. The design is just fantastic too! And me, being a pen fanatic, I like having my pens run out of ink sometimes, so I could get new ones. Hehe. But I like the rate of how moderately the ink runs out. I don't use them on a daily basis, but I think the ink flow is relatively reasonable.

This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.25 mm - Basic Colors - Blue Black
The color is very attractive and the ink is quite nice overall, but the tip is fragile and scratchy. It slows down my writing speed, and it causes tears in my paper; I don't consider myself heavy handed: I use .3mm lead and other .25 gels and .4 ball-points with no trouble at all. Unfortunately the tip is a pretty big problem. After trying both, I definitely prefer the Pentel Slicci over this.

UGH!! I actually have this in the brown-black, but I don't see it on here anymore. The brown color is good, but the pen is very scratchy and skips terrible! If you write REALLY SLOW you get a nice thin dark line, but if you speed up even a tad.... you loose your ink. Ugh! frustrating!

This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.4 mm - Basic Colors - Blue Black
After all is said and done, I think a combination of Sliccis and Hi Tec C's would be a perfect addition to any pencil case.

The blue-black pen i got was veryvery inky, moreso than usual and I love it! it writes in nice dark lines. However, it does run out of ink fairly quickly. They are both very unscratchy and you can write nice and smoothly with them.

The 0.25 is way too thin for me, and I only bought it to write my finals notecard in (because its basically a notecard where you write as much info as you can. therefore having a thinner pen works very well).

After writing with both the Hi Tec C and Slicci in 0.4, I would say both the tips are fine. The Slicci tip is noticeably sturdy, but the Hi Tec C is fine too. Unless you write amazingly heavily, it is no problem. However, the Hi Tec C tip is nicer looking compared to the slicci one. Also, the Hi Tec C has a wider barrel and a hexagonal shape, which is easier to grip than the slicci's small circle shape.

Overall, I love both of these pens, and I think they're a lot better than Sarasas. Signos are also nice, but get a 0.38 because 0.28 Signos are rather scratchy.

This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.4 mm - Nature Colors - Apple Green
This is a good pen. The inflow isn't the best out of all of the Pilot Hi-Tec-C's but it's still very good. This color is on the lighter side, so I don't recommend using this to take notes. I have tried to use it before, and it's definitely passable, but you're much better off using a darker pen that won't hurt your eyes when you go back to read your writing. I use this pen along with other pens for drawing functions on graphs because it isn't to overwhelming yet is still quite visible.

I like this pen. :) It's very good.

This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.25 mm - Basic Colors - Blue
I was really excited about getting the 0.25 mm, but it is too thin for me. For some reason I find this pen hard to write with because of how thin it is; however, the color works well! I also have the orange .3 mm and I have a really hard time getting the ink that one to work. If you like a thin, clean, sturdy pen I would recommend trying the Uni Ball Signo 0.28 or 0.38-they are my favorite so far

Great pen, writes well,..., October 29, 2010
This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.3 mm - Basic Colors - Black
Great pen, writes well, desperately needs a better grip for extended writing.

One of the better pens I have used, but I frequently run into problems with the ink drying up and requiring a fews seconds of scribbling before ink starts running again.

The tip of the pen is definitely intimidating, but it produces a minor scratching feeling whenever used to write, and that may turn some people off. A little annoyance for me, but no real big deal.

Don't expect to write with this pen for too long, as the barrel is very thin, and the design just starts to hurt your writing hand after a short while.

This is a really pretty light purple color but dark enough to read. Kind of a dark shade of lavender. Writes well like most of the hi-tec-c pens, which are my favorite brand of pens by far and I am glad there is a new color selection available! I would definitely purchase this color again!

This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.4 mm - Cutie Colors - Mango Orange
True to its name, this ink is like the flesh of a ripe mango. It's an orangey-yellow color that's about the color of the pen cap. It's not quite yellow ... not quite orange ... but it's a beautiful color in its own right. The ink is highly visible -- definitely not neon -- since there's enough orange in the color to make it stand out. With a 0.4 mm width and an exceptional color, this is a definite recommendation for anyone wanting to venture out from the normal color schemes.

Color: Mango/orangey-yellow/fresh orange juice
Readability: Visible at-a-glance, won't strain your eyes to read it
Smoothness: At 0.4 mm, this pen writes very smoothly

(goes well with the Apple Green Hi-Tec-C)

The color is such a bright..., September 21, 2010
This review is from Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pen - 0.4 mm - Cutie Colors - Muscat Green
The color is such a bright neon that you should only use this pen for drawing leaves or coloring, not writing. Even at 0.4 mm width, the ink is difficult to read. I tried writing over the words a couple times, and it's still pretty hard to read. If you want a pretty green color that IS readable, go for the Hi-Tec-C "Apple Green" color (it's a grass green/apple green color). That was how I imagined this pen to be before I got the Muscat pen and started writing with it.

While the Soda Blue and Grape colors are washed out in the Cutie Colors series, and the Mango and Strawberry amazingly bright, this Muscat has become a highlighter. In fact, if you got this pen, you should go ahead and use it to highlight text, because you won't be able to see it unless it's in a thick block of color.
