Pilot Kakuno Fountain Pen - Fine Nib - Soft Pink

DescriptionSpecifications
Your first encounter with a fountain pen is important. That's why Pilot designed the Kakuno pen, a simple fountain pen that is great for beginners. Thanks to its many features that help ease beginners into the world of fountain pens, kids and adults can experience the joy of writing with these delightful instruments. "Kakuno" means "to write" in Japanese, and that's just what this pen helps you do!

Features include the cute smiley face on the nib that always faces up when writing, ensuring correct nib orientation. The "Soft" color pens have a winking smiley face, while the other colors have a regular smiley face. Indentations in the cap make it easy to grasp when uncapping the pen. The cap and body are hexagonal, similar to the classic wooden pencil, so that the pen is comfortable to hold and doesn't roll away. The grip is made in a triangular shape so that fingers naturally sit in the correct position. Novices will soon be on their way to becoming seasoned fountain pen users!

One black ink cartridge is included. This pen is compatible with Pilot ink cartridges and converters, as listed under Recommended Refills/Parts.

This is the Fine Nib Soft Pink pen. Photos of a pen without its packaging feature the Medium Nib Light Green pen.

absolutely the best from pilot in the sub $50 pens. Weight is not bad, grip makes you feel like you are using a pencil and the colour of the pen is sober. Finally the nib, I somwhow felt that the nib - both fine and medium - were better than the ones I had on my pilot 78g and pilot metropolitan. An excellent pen and an everyday writer for sure.

Generally I would prefer fine to medium in nib, since fine nib is very very close to using a well sharpened pencil.

Great fountain pen. I love how the casing to the feed is clear, I like to be able to see how the ink is flowing.

One of the best beginner fountain pens, and just a really good fountain pen in general. The fine nib is very smooth, not scratchy at all. It is standard Pilot quality, which means it's awesome. The winky face etched into the nib is very cute and a nice touch. The pen is very comfortable to hold. However, there is one thing to note: the CON-20 does NOT fit this pen. It is loose and will not stay on properly. I suppose you could use it to clean the pen, but that's it. This isn't a problem for me, but just something to note if you're going to use a converter. I would definitely buy this again. It's an amazing pen, especially for the price.

So happy with this pen! It's not the most expensive pen I own or the cheapest, but it is my favorite. Sturdy, light weight, and very comfortable to hold. I use it every day. It writes smoothly and the cute factor of the smiling face on the nib is like the cherry on top for me. I plan on buying a couple more pens from this line to have one for each of my favorite notebooks. I would also like to add that not only have I been enjoying this pen for writing in my journal, but for some of my artwork as well. I've let my 20 year old daughter use it and she also loved it. She plans on buying one for herself.
