Pilot's Metropolitan pen is a sleek, smooth-shaped pen great for everyday use. The stylish body features a matte silver finish over a brass barrel with chrome accents. A classy yet undeniably wild python print pattern decorates the band near the cap. The slightly wide body and good weightiness make it easy to hold and use, and thus a perfect match for fountain pen novices as well as seasoned users. The pen comes with a black gift box, one black ink cartridge, and an aerometric converter (squeeze converter).

Impressed. I got this pen a few months back because it looks cool and it's inexpensive. I didn't expect much, but wanted something I'd be less sorry to lose than my Parker, Pelikan, or Montblanc, none of which travel well without leaking anyhow.
The pen has a pleasant heft without being too heavy - feels solid. The nib was a bit scratchy at first, but still better than expected from an inexpensive fine nib pen. The ink flow is reliable, using Pilot Namiki cartridges - blue/black is my preference and it's hard to say whether the overall smoothness of the experience improved when I ran out of the black cartridge it came with, or as a result of it having been broken in to my handwriting, but it's no longer scratchy.
As I did get this to be transportable I'll stick to cartridges with this one, but I am looking forward to getting one in another design to put in a converter and try some diamine inks in. And as to the portability - it beats my pricy pens for sure. So far there's been no leaking at all, and I've not been particularly careful.

Like many others, this is my first fountain pen so I'm not nearly qualified as others to review what is logistically wrong with it. However, I enjoy the silver body as well as the snake pattern very much. I would definitely recommend to anyone that wants to start practicing with fountain pens. I only wish I started using them sooner like in college when I had pages and pages of notes to write.

My first and favorite fountain pen, been using it for a couple of months and I will never go back to ballpoint for lecture notes, this is an amazing writing tool and the nib distributes the ink evenly on the paper which is great.

I am thrilled with this purchase! I bought it in both the fine and medium nib, but I tend to gravitate towards the fine more often than not. I use it everyday for as many things as will allow me. I highly recommend these folks as the place to find all your fine writing instruments.
