This is my first fountain pen, so take that as youmay, but I very much enjoy using this pen. It is amazing to write with. I literally don't want to stop. I used to journal a page or two, since starting with this I average around four. It was easy to use right out of the box, though I have had a few issues with ink leakage if I don't leave it right-side-up. Otherwise it has been super well behaved. I haven't used the converter yet, but can't wait.

My second style of FP....

My second style of FP. I have two Lamy Safaris (medium and extra fine), so this pen is a big change for me. I went through the included ink cartridge quickly, and bought a bottle of ink to use with the pressure plate converter. Unfortunately the ink I loaded into it was acrylic, and I was worried that I just ruined the pen.
But this pen is a snap to clean if you're willing to take it apart. I looked up a video on how to dismantle the nib and feed. Once apart I was able to clean out all of the bad ink, and now it is working as well as it did when I first got it. I think this is a great pen for an inexperienced user like me.
I also love the weight; it's not too heavy, but compared to the plastic Lamy Safari it feels hefty. Haven't felt fatigued using it, and it is mostly used for drawing/sketching. I might look for a different style of converter since I refill it often, but that's just my personal preference. The pressure plate style converter included works fine.

This is my first Pilot Fountain Pen. I've used the low end Kaweco and Lamy in the past and I like this one far better than those. This is a very solid feeling pen with a much more premium feel than the others mentioned above. The fine tip also feels a lot smoother than the Kaweco and Lamy pens which always felt a little scratchy. Love this pen and price.

Love, love, love this pen!!! This is my 3rd Metropolitan. I haven't inked this one yet, and may not for some time. But I have no doubt that it will perform just as flawlessly as my other two. The Pilot Metropolitan has replaced the Lamy Safari as my favorite everyday pen. Nice to look at, comfortable to hold, writes like a high-end pen and works every time I pick it up. What's not to love?

I found out about this line when only the medium (really semi-broad) nibs were available. Now I've added several fine-points to the group. I use fountain pens for most of my handwriting and these are great. I have several [much] more expensive pens that don't write as nicely as this one.

The only shortcoming I would point out is common to most fountain pens... If you take this on an airline you want it inside something inkproof like a plastic bag. Even driving across a wide range of elevation can give you enough air pressure change for awkward surprises.

Fantastic pen for the...

Fantastic pen for the price. I think it equals or outperforms the Lamy Vista EF I have, which is double the price and doesn't even include a converter. Only complaint is that it runs a tad bit wet with Noodler's Black for a Japanese F. Definitely not to the point where it's unusable, however. I'm a student writing on pretty junky paper most of the time, and every bit of extra ink that's put into a page is a bit more room for feathering and smudging. This pen is so close to the perfect amount of ink flow, but just barely puts out a bit too much. If you're looking for a fantastic every day carry pen, you can't go wrong with the Metro.

One thing to consider specifically with the white is that any amount of ink will show up on the pen. Sometimes there's residual ink in the cap that gets on the back of the pen when posted, but there's no major staining so far and it's easy enough to wipe off.

Great pen for the price and I have two of them. Great writing experience for the money. It has a nice smooth nib and flow and I've had no issues whatsoever. A must buy for any newbie.

I really like this pen. It is quite pretty and of good quality especially at this price point. This is an all metal pen so it has some heft.
