This is my first fountain pen, so take that as youmay, but I very much enjoy using this pen. It is amazing to write with. I literally don't want to stop. I used to journal a page or two, since starting with this I average around four. It was easy to use right out of the box, though I have had a few issues with ink leakage if I don't leave it right-side-up. Otherwise it has been super well behaved. I haven't used the converter yet, but can't wait.

My second style of FP....

My second style of FP. I have two Lamy Safaris (medium and extra fine), so this pen is a big change for me. I went through the included ink cartridge quickly, and bought a bottle of ink to use with the pressure plate converter. Unfortunately the ink I loaded into it was acrylic, and I was worried that I just ruined the pen.
But this pen is a snap to clean if you're willing to take it apart. I looked up a video on how to dismantle the nib and feed. Once apart I was able to clean out all of the bad ink, and now it is working as well as it did when I first got it. I think this is a great pen for an inexperienced user like me.
I also love the weight; it's not too heavy, but compared to the plastic Lamy Safari it feels hefty. Haven't felt fatigued using it, and it is mostly used for drawing/sketching. I might look for a different style of converter since I refill it often, but that's just my personal preference. The pressure plate style converter included works fine.

This is my first Pilot Fountain Pen. I've used the low end Kaweco and Lamy in the past and I like this one far better than those. This is a very solid feeling pen with a much more premium feel than the others mentioned above. The fine tip also feels a lot smoother than the Kaweco and Lamy pens which always felt a little scratchy. Love this pen and price.

I found out about this line when only the medium (really semi-broad) nibs were available. Now I've added several fine-points to the group. I use fountain pens for most of my handwriting and these are great. I have several [much] more expensive pens that don't write as nicely as this one.

The only shortcoming I would point out is common to most fountain pens... If you take this on an airline you want it inside something inkproof like a plastic bag. Even driving across a wide range of elevation can give you enough air pressure change for awkward surprises.

Love, love, love this pen!!! This is my 3rd Metropolitan. I haven't inked this one yet, and may not for some time. But I have no doubt that it will perform just as flawlessly as my other two. The Pilot Metropolitan has replaced the Lamy Safari as my favorite everyday pen. Nice to look at, comfortable to hold, writes like a high-end pen and works every time I pick it up. What's not to love?

This pen is the bomb!!!!!! I am not one for reviews but I enjoy this pen that much! I've used it so much that I already ran out of ink in the provided cartridge. Right now I am using the same cartridge refilled with Higgins Calligraphy waterproof black ink and it still writes well. This pen is smooth; even on paper that I did not expect it to be able to write well on. I've been using it in a Strathmore 400 Series Watercolor paper, hardcover bound book (product #467-8) and it writes just as smooth as on any other paper. Ink dries pretty fast. Pen feels nice in hand. In fact, I am already lobbying friends and family to get the other colors for me as my Christmas, Birthday, I love you, just because gifts. For the price, this is the best middle ground I have found in the world of fountain pens. I have a Diplomat gold nib pen which I barely use as it clogs a-lot and the ink flow sucks. None of these issues with the Pilot. Have had a variety of other fountain pens over the years and I end up re-gifting them. This pen is so nice I guard it like gold. I had a friend use it to sign some documents; her comment- 'Nice pen!' My comment? "I know...now give it back' :)

I may be biased--the Pilot Metro is the first fountain pen I bought. I do not have any plans to buy pens as an investment or ever spend over $50. I think this pen is perfect. I enjoy the weight of it and the length. It is a great looking pen--comes in a nice case with a refillable reservoir, although I have just been using the disposable. Personally I see no need for another fountain pen, unless maybe a finer nib size is needed. The price is so reasonable that I have bought several as gifts. I have purchased several other pens in similar to slightly higher price ranges. This one outshines them all, in my amateur opinion.
