Pilot's Metropolitan pen is a sleek smooth-shaped pen great for everyday use. The body features a stylish matte finish over a brass barrel with chrome accents. A quietly sophisticated pattern of zigzags decorates the band near the cap. The slightly wide body and good weightiness make it easy to hold and use, and thus a perfect match for fountain pen novices as well as seasoned users. The pen comes with a box, one black ink cartridge, and an aerometric converter (squeeze converter).

after reading other reviews, I decided to get one of these. I LOVE IT! This is a great step-up from the platinum preppy. This pen has a beautiful and smooth-writing nib, and the ink in the included cartridge is pretty dark and nice. the medium nib writes about equivalent to an 0.7 or 0.8 gel/liquid ink pen. I stuck in the cartridge, and after leaving it nib down for about 10 minutes, I was able to start writing. the converter looks a bit cheap, but I haven't tried it yet.

I had expected to receive a cheap fountain pen, regarding the low price. How surprised I was to hold such a significant pen with a quite heavy metal-body in my hand. The nib is perfect for me. I am a lefty and can use this fountain pen without smudging.

Writing with this pen is such fun, I desperately need some inspiration and topics, I feel the to handwrite, now that I own this pen.
I can not comment on the converter, since I used the PILOT cartridge with black ink that came with the pen.
I might order a second one, so I can have use it with a nice complementary colour, orange or pink.
The ergonommics are not perfect, because the ridge (where the cap touches the pen) is quite sharp which is annoying when I write more than just a few lines.
Still 5 points, because with free shipping in the US the value what you get, for the price you pay, is amazing!

The Pilot pen has a well-deserved reputation for being one of the best introductory fountain pens. It looks and feels like a pen costing much more money, and I've had several people compliment me on it.

It comes with a converter, so all you need to buy is a bottle of ink and some nice paper, and you're good to go!

A great price-performance pen from Pilot. I swear, I can't think of a fountain pen I've owned that was better for the $17.
