The Pilot Metropolitan pen is a sleek, smooth-shaped pen great for everyday use. This pen features a bright orange finish with a flower-patterned middle band. The brass cap and barrel give the pen a comfortable weight and balance. Combined with its smooth-writing stainless steel nib, this makes the Metropolitan a pen that is well-loved by fountain pen novices and expert users alike. This is an attractive and high quality pen for the price. It has a classic look with a touch of flair. Ink flows smoothly, but perhaps a bit too plentifully for many papers (that's the cause of the lost star in my rating, and really it's more like half a star deduction). I have experienced ghosting in my Exacompta (admittedly not the thickest paper) that makes the back of each page unusable. The heft is a bit much for me, but that's strictly a personal preference - I'm so used to cheaper ball points and felt tips that I'm just not used to a heavy pen. For those who prefer some weight, though, I think you'll be pleased.

Love it. Several sources had this as number one choice as an affordable starter fountain pen and I agree.
