These are the cartridges...
November 3, 2010
These are the cartridges you need to refill the Plumix. I got the blue-black refill cartridges and thought ink came out looking a bit too gray.

You could also flush out the empty cartridge and refill using your choice of bottled fountain pen inks (which come in a huge variety of colors) with a blunt tipped syringe (I went to the local pharmacy and asked for a syringe with the sharp removed). I have heard that you do need to keep the little purple disc in the cartridge to maintain proper ink flow.

This is a great blue ink. Darker than Parker, Lamy, Sheaffer Skrip, with some shading if you use the right pen. Best of all, highly water resistant, almost fully waterproof.

When you think about how long these cartridges last compared to the international short cartridges, an overall great bargain.

Got these as part of a gift for a friend. Though I have not tried the ink myself, he told me that he really enjoys using them with his Pilot Metropolitan and that the ink color and quality are very good, and behaves pretty well with regular paper.

A fine ink, for sure. Using this with a Vanishing Point fine nib, The blue is quite nice, not the best I've seen, though, However, I much prefer these to using the converter that comes with the Vanishing Point pen...they just don't hold as much ink in my opinion.

I've been using these cartridges for many years. It was great to use a "fountain" pen again after all the "biro's" (first ball point). The cartridges have always done an excellent job. The blue ink is the same as the old fountain pen ink. I am now going to tryout the black ink.

Nice color, but I was hoping for something a bit more vividly blue. The blue isn't as vivid as the pilot varsity disposable. However, it works great -- doesn't smear. So no complaints here - I've already repurchased!

Great ink. No problems swapping them out when they get empty. The ink is beautifully free flowing and no splots on the paper!

Best blue ink for Pilot/Namiki...

Best blue ink for Pilot/Namiki pens. I own several Pilot or Namiki pens and want ink that is at least water resistant. Everything in that category is high maintenance and/or expensive. I've used Noodlers which is cheap and archival but some colors clog the pens. Registrars or pigment ink is reputed to cause clogging and even corrosion, not to mention the price. I've heard of professional registrars using the cheapest fountain pens they can get because they'll corrode anyway because of the special ink. Everything else ...a few ounces of water will wash it out completely! But this stuff from Pilot remained legible after a 72 hour soak! The droplet test didn't cause any blue puddling. Perfect for envelopes, and an additional safety factor for everything else! I don't know if this ink is archival but for that I have a cheap pen with registrars ink and a Platinum Carbon pen. The blue/black Pilot ink is also just as waterproof. However, I understand the rest of the Pilot line is NOT. Oh yeah, since this is OEM ink it writes like a charm in any Pilot or Namiki pen. I also like the bold shade of blue though for work the blue/black might be more appropriate. I understand this blue ink is available in bottles from Jet Pens, or rebranded as Namiki at US retailers in 60cc bottles.
