I purchased both this and the Pentel AIN Stein in 2B. This Neox lead in a Retro 51 Hex-O-Matic is not just smooth, it is ridiculously smooth, even on lower quality paper. The AIN Stein is good lead, but the Neox is luxurious lead, it is nearly frictionless in this pencil and makes a rich, bold line. I estimate the Neox 2B is approximately the same darkness as the Palomino Blackwing 602 writing with moderate pressure, maybe just a tad lighter if you bear down on the 602. It erases very well with a white Pentel hi-polymer. I'm impressed. Will definitely buy again.

I prefer a softer lead, also prefer to sign my checks and fill out forms with a Fountain Pen.

This is a lovely Pencil Lead, but does tend to smear if one isn't careful.

I don't know how this lead compares to the Pentel Ain Stein or the Uni Nano Dia Low-wear lead. So to be fair, I'm rating this at 4 stars.
