I guess even with Japanese stationary you get what you pay for. When I opened up the package to use this pencil the shaker mechanism didn't work. It also wouldn't click using the button advance. So I stripped it apart and found a piece of lead just floating in the body of the pencil keeping the spring from moving. Since I got that straightened out the shaker and button work. What dissappoints me is there is NO sense of a click when you use the push button, and the shaker is sparatic at best. As far as writing quality goes though it's a winner, so it gets the stars it does based on it's writing comfort.
