The Pilot Prera Clear, also known as the Prera Iro-Ai, has a beautifully clean look and writes luxuriously. The acrylic body is accented with tasteful pops of transparent color, and the light weight is easy on your hand. Every last detail of the pen is well-made, down to the cushioned click you feel when closing the cap. Fill the pen with the ink of your choice using the pre-installed converter, or insert an ink cartridge. The transparent body lets you admire the ink and monitor remaining ink levels. Once you have loaded your ink, you can get creative with the calligraphy nib, by drawing wide diagonal lines and thin horizontal lines to create stylish lettering and flourishes.

This pen comes in a box with a black ink cartridge and a CON-50 converter.

For help with using a converter, see our blog post.

This pen is just amazing....

This pen is just amazing. I'm using it with the included CON-50 piston converter. It's smooth to write with, good quality parts, and well contained; this pen has lived up to my expectations. Being Japanese-made, the Prera nib sizes are on the smaller side, but it's what I wanted in this case.

I took months for me...

I took months for me to go from 2 stars to 4! When I first got this pen I was a little bit disappointed on how small it is, doesn't feel as small as the Kaweco but it is small. I use it posted mainly, just to get that full size feel when I write with it. For me the nib is too small for calligraphy artwork but I find myself reaching for it to write notes, quotes that I like or handwritten letters to people. I love the sound that it makes when I put the cap on to put it away and the fact that the ink flows effortlessly with the first attempt at writing even after days without using it. Aesthetically it is very pleasing considering that I'm not a huge fan of clear pens-I only own two this one and a TWSBI fountain pen. The only thing that I don't like is how the ink gets inside the cap in between the cap and a plastic insert that is part of the cap. You can see the ink through the clear cap but I don't see a way to get behind the plastic insert to clean it. It doesn't mean that it is impossible, if I find out how to do it I will give it five stars.
