I'm very picky about pens and how they write. Surprisingly, this pen writes really well (almost as well as the Jetstream pens). The barrel has a nice grip and the pen has a nice balance. There is virtually no skipping or scratching when I write. I definitely recommend it!

I really enjoy this pen...., January 24, 2009
I really enjoy this pen. I received a version of this pen (the 1.0mm) at work in a bag of 'green' products from our office supplier. I was surprised to find that I really liked the balance, size and smooth writing quality of it. I'm pretty picky about ballpoints, and have really loved the Uniball Jetstream series. But this pen competes very well with them.
For me, the barrel is perfectly sized with a nice taper, and a rubber grip that is not too sticky. That really bugs me when I feel that I can't rotate or move around the pen. This barrel is perfect.

The ink flows very well and the writing action is smooth. Now it isn't a Uniball Jetstream in terms of ink flow and smoothness, but it is close.

I really like the 1.0mm pen (but that isn't offered by JetPens for some reason). The 0.7mm is fantastic and very precise. Surprisingly the 1.0mm is smooth and precise. That's where this pen trumps the Jetstream. The 1.0 is more precise than the Jetstream 1.0, as is the 0.7mm.

I enjoy it and if you like a good ballpoint, I think you'll like this as well.

There's nothing quite special about the ink in this pen, as it writes like most ball point pens. The barrel has a nice feel to it.

This review is from Pilot Rexgrip Ballpoint Pen - 1.6 mm - Blue Body - Blue Ink
On my quest to find a 1.4-1.6 pen that doesn't skip, this one isn't the answer either unfortunately. pen grip has a sexy little hourglass style shape to it and I like the simplified solid color to the body for this one. The grip is a nice rubbery feel without any give or "obvious rubber" feel to it. but alas, the ink skips. This ink is also a more faded color blue than the others I reviewed in this 1.4-1.6 category. Wouldn't mind a lighter, more faded blue if it was nice and legible due to solid lines. Back on my quest...

Excellent pen! The ink flows very smoothly, and the pen is comfortable to hold. I especially appreciate it because I have arthritis in my hands, and the large pens made for people like me seem at best clumsy.

Great shade of purple. Use it to right in my journal/diary. Love the feel. I gave it four stars because I would love to see it in .5. I personaly like the rexgrip more than the acroball .5. Should buy it!

The shade of purple on this pen is a very nice one. It is a true purple with not a hint of pink. The same can be said for the ink. Most importantly, the pen lays down a nice and consistent line.

I don’t know if Pilot used the Latin word “Rex” to indicate that this pen has the king of grips or not, but it is a very comfortable writing pen. In fact, it felt more comfortable to me then the similar-ish, Uni Jetstream. The Jetstream is my favorite line of all the pens I’ve bought at JetPens. However, I do find the diameter of the gripping section on it to be ever so slightly too thick or fat. If the Jetstream had the same gripping section diameter as the Rexgrip, it would be even better then it is now.

It is also worth mentioning that the gripping section of the Rexgrip (and the Jetstream for that matter) is not contoured as, for example, are the gripping sections of the Dong-A Any Ball and the Uni Laknock/Lakubo lines. These pens are comfortable but I prefer the un-contoured grips of the Rexgrip and Jetstream.

The cone at the bottom screws off but I don’t know if refills are available or not. JetPens doesn’t currently sell them if they are made.

For $1.15, the Pilot Rexgrip is definitely worth five stars. I should add that I also tried a 1.6 mm Rexgrip and didn't like it. Stick with the 0.7s. Highly recommended.

Great value! Pen writes very smoothly, is comfortable to hold, and the blue is just the prettiest blue (not too light, not too dark).
