The reviewer who said this feels like a dart WAS right. If it wasn't so expensive I might be tempted to use it next time I got to the bar. Works just fine, I actually really like the grip on this and how far it rides up the barrel. What I just can't fathom is why in the world would pilot make this with see through plastic. I know it would be a weight issue, but I don't know I would have just prefered them to use aluminum or something more sturdy. Other than that I really like It and recommend it.

A well executed pencil. Just the right amount of grip. Smartly styled right down to the wrap around pocket clip. And unlike so many mech pencils it's solid - doesn't feel like internal parts are rattling around when you write. One of my every day pencils!

I first used the S series pencils after I found one at Wal-Mart, so I sprung for this one when I saw the more elegant design. The balance is great and the pencil is beautiful, and -- at the risk of inviting criticism -- I used 400 grit sandpaper to reduce the sleeve to about 1/3 its standard length. By doing that the pencil is better suited for general writing and still has all of its design qualities.

My 2nd JetPens review....

My 2nd JetPens review. Are you proud of me?

This Pilot S10 0.5 mm mechanical pencil looks and feels like a dart. And it writes on target like one too. I'm almost 100% certain that if you add flights, the wingy thingies on darts, that you could toss bull's eye's all day long with this pencil.

The weight of its longer than normal metal grip section just somehow seems to propel this pencil along the paper with a natural flow and makes me feel more assured and confident in my line work. And the click button gives the most satisfying click of any clicker that I've ever clicked before.

Yeah, there are mechanical pencils with more adjustability than this one, and I love my fiddly pencils as much as the next person, but this is the most solid natural feeling pencil I've used so far.

This pen is a definite bull's eye!

A high-quality pencil...

A high-quality pencil I never bought before just because I made fun of it's dart design, but do not let the design fool you. One feel of the pencil and I can understand why this pencil has been getting very good reviews.

This pencil has a nice weighted feel towards the tip of the pencil, yet does not feel too heavy to write with for long periods of use. I thought it will have a translucent upper body but the amount of translucency is far more than enough for me to ignore. The knurled grip is probably it's best selling point to me, being how the knurling covers half the body and how the knurling is not as rough as pictured. It's more comparable to the knurling on the Graphgear 500 than on the Uni Pipe shift. Plastic body on the upper half feels solid, and the clip and lead sleeve part has a nice sanded finish that screams quality.

My only 2 gripes are:
- The cap feels loose, unlike the Pilot S2. I replaced the cap with a Pilot S2 Black Pencil cap that I had as a spare.
- The qualiy of the cap feels subpar, especially the "metal" part of the cap that twists around for indicating the lead grade (no it's not metal its cheap-ish plastic)

However, these factors were not so bad that it changes my impression of the pencil (well ,,, a bit but not too much). Nevertheless, this is an awesome pencil that anyone should get if they need a solid pencil that writes well. I would want to buy the 0.3mm variant but the yellow color isn't up to my liking.

A MUST HAVE mechanical pencil. One of the best knurled grips I have found in a drafting pencil. It is excellent for extensive writing. Great balance and precision for technical drawing. I would give it a 10/10.

As a professional home designer, I am working with this drafting pencil sometimes up to 10 to 12 continuous hours a day, creating sketches for my clients. I have found this pencil to be one of the most comfortable in the market. It has a fantastic weight and balance to it. With the widened metal barrel, it is easy to grip and I find that it doesn't fatigue the hand. Great product.

my only complain. DO NOT lose the little rubber bump between the grip and the barrel. otherwise the barrel will not stay fixed in place. other than that, this pencil has now become my main writing instrument.
Probably my favourite...

Probably my favourite drafting pencil among my small collection. It looks great and it feels great. Mind you the price is a little on the higher side but the quality and feel really show. Its the first tip heavy mechanical pencil so it took a while to get use to but I actually prefer it. The edgy cap where my fingers press into actually makes my hand tired while writing exams but that's just nitpicking at this point. The feel of the knurled grip, the brushed metal parts, even the transparent plastic body all look and feel amazing. It has a professional look to it yet still has that element of fun. If only it wasn't a transparent black body but a blue one, I would be extremely happy. Still, the S10 stood by me as I plowed through my final year.

Just a warning to other S10 owners or to-be owners, the tip can be rather dangerous to yourself and itself. I've seen someone bend their S10 tip before resulting in failure to advance the lead. Luckily I was able to fix it by rounding out the tip again.
