The ink in this pen is a bright yellow, slightly orange. I put switched the nib with my fine Preppy and the yellow was practically unreadable, but in the M nib it is very readable even on white paper. The nib writes smoothly. I've been using this pen for the past 2 weeks and it hasn't dried up.

This pen is very surprising. It's ugly, the ink that comes with it is terrible. However, the pen itself is very sturdy, and the nib and feed are well aligned out of the package. It is easy to convert to an eyedropper pen, or to refill the cartridge with the ink of your choice. I find with a free-flowing ink the pen is excellent. As far as looks, it's definitely a 'get what you pay for' pen, the markings are not stickers and don't come off (maybe with some rubbing alcohol?). As far as performance, it ranks much higher, and is a very comfortable size in the hand in this price category.

I have had good experiences with Jet Pen's Platinum Preppy pens - and you can't beat the price. My one yellow one I bought (of many) malfunctioned, but it was perfect for lectures, and underlining printouts.

I like the other colors of Preppy's, but I'm not sure why anyone would want yellow ink (it very barely show on white paper).
My other complaint is that this on dried up after only 2 days of installing the cartridge. Yes,
it really did dry up - since the pen is clear and the cartridge is translucent I could see all the ink was gone.
I guess I will now put a brown ink cartridge in (since it is a .03 nib) and hopefully that will last. So I won't have wasted my $3.
