Great pencil! I have..., September 6, 2012
Great pencil! I have koh-i-noor rapidomatics and rotrings in the same style. The
retractable tip is really nice. The only thing I don't love is the grip is a
little too smooth. I can't find a grip like the old koh-i-noors that are really
sharp diamonds. I got the black but wish I had gotten the sliver.

This pencil is well balanced..., January 25, 2013
This review is from Retro 51 Hex-O-Matic Mechanical Pencil - 0.7 mm - Black Body
This pencil is well balanced and very functional. I don't think the pictures do
this pencil justice as the body of this pencil is one solid piece of material
and feels very sturdy. The retractible metal sleeve that supports the lead was
well designed and works flawlessly. When not in use, the sleeve can be
retracted into the body of the pencil making it a little easier to carry in a
pocket or sleeve.
Overall, I was impressed with this Retro 51 Pencil.

SIZE MATTERS

SIZE MATTERS
This is a good quality mechanical pencil that has a good heft and sturdy build.
It reminds me of a Rotring 600
but with an adjustable sleeve tip. Yes the sleeve tip length can be adjusted if
you are deliberate with the use of
the eraser knocker push button. I find this feature useful for extended writing
tasks. I am an engineering student
and write a lot. The lead extension mechanism is well made and makes a nice
positive click when you extend
the lead bit by bit. Each click extends the leaf about 0.75mm.
The grip is knurled as stated in the description but feels very thin in my hand.
I am very disappointed with how
small in diameter the grip is as the original description (when I purchased the
pencil) suggested that
it was 8.5mm.
The new detailed description states 8.2mm but I measured 8.15mm. Also the max
diameter is 9.5mm not
including the pocket clip.
Overall I think this is a nice pencil but I can't use it very much as the grip
is too small for my hand.
