The tornados all write very well with great ink. It a very beatiful pen and I recommend. The only big downside is its a little expensive compared to your gel inks and ballpoints but it is well worth it.

This pen writes extremely well! The ink flows smoothly and instantly. I never have to scratch at the paper to get the ink to run.

The outer shell of the pen is this fantastic earthy copper color. The pen has some heft to it, but isn't too heavy.

Highly recommend!

The Lincoln arrived very timely in its wonderfully Retro looking pen box. The brushed metal body is beautifully finished and the knurled twist top is a joy to turn, It's got a weighty and meaty feel to it and feels really nice in my hands. Ink takes readily, (maybe too readily!) with very minimal blotting on the initial stroke which one will expect more of from a 0.7. The ball is very very smooth and glides like a dream. I'm glad I got this gem and it sure is become a favourite!

This is a very beautiful and very hefty metal pen, and was my first Retro 51 Tornado purchase. It's a roller-ball, with a thick 0.7 very black line that dries immediately on the page (unless it's rhodia-type paper) - which is great news for lefties. That being said, the line does spread on almost every kind of paper, and so if you like sharp, crisp lines, look elsewhere. There is also considerable show-through and bleed-through with this pen.
But I love its vintage look, and I love that it gains a dark patina after a little bit of use, and I love the way it feels in my hand - it is hefty, but it's also perfectly balanced, so it is still very comfortable to write with, even with my tiny hands.

A very nice "copper" colored "vintage" looking roller-ball, with a thick black line. Only 4 stars because the center circle of the top is silver, when it should be brown or black. It used to be my "carry" pen when I wore brown or khaki, but now that job goes to the Classic Lacquer Brown.
