The tornados all write very well with great ink. It a very beatiful pen and I recommend. The only big downside is its a little expensive compared to your gel inks and ballpoints but it is well worth it.

I am not a pen person, but, having gotten tired of the pens at my office, I went on a mini-spree. The Retro 51 is the most expensive pen I bought, but it is also the best. The first time I wrote with it, I thought, "where have you been all my life???"

It has a nice, thick line that flows almost effortlessly, none of that scratchiness I dislike in cheap pens so much, and it does not smudge my left hand as I write.

I purchased a second Retro 51, the orange lacquer. I like this one better, though, because the lacquer has chipped off a bit. I give the lacquer pen 4 stars because of the chip.

The only test I have left is how long the ink lasts. I will use this pen for as long as I don't lose it if the ink lasts even 70% as long as a standard pen.

The pen body is just beautiful for a person who loves the Steampunk style. This pen is the first one I bought for it's looks but don't care for the writing experience. It would be five stars if I didn't end up with black spots on my desktop and all along my bare arm in the warm weather. I would give anything if there was a ball point pen refill to fit this. I got the fine point refill and it is just as messy. I am a very happy customer of Jet Pens and if there IS a ball point refill (with ink designed to dry faster), I would be even happier. The pen has a comfortable weight to it, but I can't use it out and about and end up with my arm or clothing picking it the ink. This tells me no more roller ball pens, but I would really like to use the pen body with a better quality ink. I have managed to fit a Fisher pressurized refill, but I will have to cut down the adapter cap (I think it was for using with some Parker pens) for the pen tip to be completely brought up inside the pen. I am assuming that Fisher still makes the adapters to use with other well known brands. I want to use their cartridges in all my pens. They are just too useful under all conditions in city life. I don't have a 3D printer to design an adapter for a perfect fit.

I wanted this pen to go with my Steampunk accessories, and was not disappointed. I love it. It feels great in my hand and the color is warm and beautiful. I think I will like the fine point refill better than the rollerball...the ink is too messy for me. It's as stylish as any of the much more expensive pens with patinas. Thanks for us people with style but a limited budget.
