This beautiful, metal drafting pencil is truly one for the pros. It features a hexagonal body and a circular cross-hatch metal grip. The cushion point mechanism allows the sliding sleeve to give slightly under pressure to reduce lead breakage while writing. Pencil includes a clip and eraser under the cap.

Pencil dimensions: 14.5 cm with tip extended, 8.5 mm diameter.

For 0.7, I have both...

For 0.7, I have both the 800 and Rapid Pro. For quick writing, this works well (vs opening the 800). But this is lighter than the 800 if that matters to you. Compared to the Graphgear which I also own, I just think that for a sliding sleeve, the Rapid Pro looks much better. The graphgear has a nice grip and clip, but looks and body color wise, I'll use this in a business meeting over the pentel every time.

This pencil is fantastic....

This pencil is fantastic. I've had it for a while and it never disappoints. It writes like a dream and is super swanky looking.

In my hand, the pencil is just heavy enough to feel solid without being cumbersome and it's nicely balanced in the center to make writing easy. The knurled grip is made of metal but it's textured in a way that doesn't destroy my skin. A firm grip is easy to maintain. It's also the perfect diameter, for my hand at least. It's slightly thicker than the 600 and 800 series, but that extra thickness is comfortable.

Writing is a very pleasant experience. Moving the pencil around is easy, despite the weight of the pencil. No part of the pencil blocks the view of what I'm writing. The click of the pencil is a bit lacking, but there is definitely an audible click and a faint vibration in the pencil when clicking. So, it's at least a better click than the atrocious 800 series but not as good as the 600 series. The retractable tip extends a good distance and vanishes completely when retracted.

If I had to complain about something, it would be the clip. It isn't fastened tightly enough to stop it from rotating around the pencil as I write. Also, the chrome is a magnet for finger prints and smudges. Those are only minor annoyances.

If you're looking for a well crafted pencil that can last you a lifetime, buy this one. It's well worth it.

First of all, this pencil...

First of all, this pencil is absolutely the most high quality pencil that I have ever handled. Because of its great function and its sleek matte black finish, this pencil is in the top class for function and aesthetics.
When I was deciding which Rotring to buy(a 600 or the Rapid Pro), I was convinced that the Rapid Pro was better than the 600 especially because the tip of the Rapid Pro could retract. However, I was also unconvinced as well, because the Rapid Pro screwed on to a plastic screw, whereas the 600 screwed on to a metal screw which was a part of the metal body itself. But needless to say, I was more worried about the tip bending rather than the small, meager fact that the lower part of the Pro was attached to a probably high-grade, excellent plastic, much higher in quality and strength than most other expensive mechanical pencils.
All in all, I was worried that in some IMPOSSIBLE way, the plastic screw of the Pro might break, though to this day, my Rotring Rapid Pro still remains as a high-quality, sturdy yet stylish, and a purposeful yet beautiful pencil that I can and will recommend it to everyone who is able to afford this classic pencil.
4.8 stars out of 5 because of the plastic screw and the hole on the cap. (I think I'm being a bit paranoid (: )
