With its cool, unique look and glossy body, the Rotring Tikky mechanical pencil is a stylish and functional addition to any pen case. It sports the trademark Rotring red ring around its middle and has a triangular upper body. The grip has an alternating pattern of rubber and the plastic barrel. The rubber is soft to the touch for comfortable writing, and its plastic body makes for a lightweight tool. This mechanical pencil contains a brass mechanism which allows for precise lead advancement. A fixed lead pipe prevents lead breakage and offers a clear view of writing and drawing. The pencil has a strong clip and capped eraser. It also features ISO 3098 color coding near the eraser cap that indicates lead size to help you find the pencil you need quickly.

The pencil comes with Rotring Hi-Polymer HB lead.

I bought one for me and one for my son. We both love this pencil and the 1.0 mm lead. It's a great pencil that is comfortable to write with and I love being able to get the bigger diameter lead. So many pencils are in the 0.5 and 0.7 diameter and those just don't work for me. I wish more pencils came in the 0.9 and 1.0 mm diameters. Great pencil. Love it.

I'd heard great things about this mechanical pencil and it lived up to all of them! It uses 1.0 lead and when I use the soft lead, I can easily see its markings. With the unique bottom rubbery material, it's easy to hold and my hand doesn't tire from writing and drawing a lot. There are little rubber ovals that are a bit higher than the band on the bottom and these seem to be the secret ingredient that makes the pencil so comfortable. I also like the color of the bottom - almost camouflaged - different from any other pencil I've used. The eraser is easy to get to by removing the small metal top cover and it doesn't look weird if I leave off the meatl top because I use the eraser so much! This is a very versatile engineers mechanical pencil that I, an artist can love, and also would be lived and appreciated by my 25 year old environmental engineering son.
