This is the best pen for journaling. If the page is treated with gesso, there is no bleed through. This ink stands up to water colors and does not bleed. It is also at the best price I've found.

I've been using these...

I've been using these Sharpies for a few years. The point is sturdy, and makes for an enjoyable writing experience. The slight stickiness of the felt tip makes my penmanship really nice. The only problems are that 1) they have that distinctive chemical-like Sharpie odor which can be pretty off-putting and 2) they bleed through all but the thickest of pages. It's not the sexiest pen in the world, but it's actually pretty good.
