DescriptionSpecificationsQuestions & Answers
Speedball has been a trusted name in handcrafted nibs and pens for the calligrapher, letterer, and drawing artist for over 100 years. This durable plastic holder holds the nib at an oblique angle, making it easier for you to create certain types of lettering without uncomfortably twisting your arm or wrist. Creating shading is easier, and ragged line edges are minimized. The oblique holder is particularly useful for script styles such as Copperplate and Spencerian. This holder is great for anyone wanting to do pointed pen calligraphy.

For a thorough guide to pen and brush lettering, check out the Speedball Textbook. This book is available separately.

Note: Speedball recommends only using this nib holder with Speedball nibs. Other nibs may not fit securely in this nib holder.

The nib pictured is not included.

Purchased this as my first oblique holder. Received another oblique later as a gift that had the brass holder. Both work well, the brass one is a little better since the metal part is flexible and you can fit several different sizes of nibs in it. The plastic one isn't flexible and can only hold a few sizes.
