I bought this and the Black color to test out the Stabilo Point 88 series. I've
seen a lot of people draw and color with them but, like most of us, I have to
try supplies for myself. Everyone has different needs.
After testing them out by drawing & coloring mandalas on mixed media paper and
taking notes in basic notebook paper, I've concluded that the Dark Gray color
works fine as a note taking pen and maybe for drawing/outlining, but definitely
wouldn't use it to color. Even on heavy paper it got very saturated and bled
through. And even simple lines begins to look black after more than one pass. On
notebook paper the blotting is noticeable but not too bad.
On the plus side, however, these Stabilos definitely possess the cool factor.
The design makes them one of the most popular and recognizable fineliners out
there. I actually really like the Dark Gray color for note taking. Looks almost
like thick graphite. And the contrast when highlighted with a Mild Blue Green
Zebra Mildliner looks really cool.
So overall, this particular Point 88 is not exactly what I was looking for but I
did find a new note taking pen to add to my collection!
