 I bought this a few weeks..., July 7, 2012I bought this a few weeks ago. The mechanical pencil and unfold-able pin are
excellent; I didn't need to fumble around with those little set screws. The
die-cast frame was very poor quality, however. The pencil arm broke off at the
hinge when I was folding it back up. I looked at the part that broke off and saw
a casting flaw where more than 50% of the metal was absent. Since this was the
narrowest part of the arm, its little surprise that it broke after a few weeks
of regular use. My compass is now unusable.

Great compass, metal construction and the addition of a mechanical pencil makes
it even better. Would have loved to have one twenty years ago in the math
lessons. But from time to time I still need to draw a circle, so, here it is the
tool for that.
